1) Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
Manning is on a role and should slice up the Chargers.
2) Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Rivers should be good for a couple touchdowns.

Warner has been cold but thrives on big stage.

Should throw plenty of passes this weekend.
5) Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Rookie keeps on surprising.

Best Fantasy Performances in Week 16

QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Throughout the season, Philip Rivers has been a dependable fantasy football quarterback. In Week 16, he was very good once again. He finished the game with four touchdown passes to go along with 287 passing yards. On the season, Rivers now has more than 3800 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns.
RB DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers
It’s hard to call DeAngelo Williams anything other than a fantasy football phenom. Against a tough New York Giants defense, Williams had four rushing touchdowns and more than 100 yards. On the season, Williams has more than 1300 yards and 18 …read more

Week 6 Sell High Fantasy Candidates

QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
After starting the season with three straight three-touchdown games, Rivers has had just two touchdowns in his last two games. He’s still rated highly by a lot of fantasy football owners due to his fast start, so sell him high if you can.
RB Steve Slaton, Houston Texans
While Steve Slaton is a great story and has been a fantastic fantasy football pick this season, his stock likely won’t get any higher. Now would be a good time to sell considering that he’s a rookie who could hit a rookie wall at some point. Not only that, …read more

Philip Rivers Injury Update – Fantasy Football Impact

Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers suffered a torn ACL last year in the 2007 NFL playoffs. Rivers played on the injury and gave a heroic effort before he and the Chargers fell short.
While a torn ACL is always serious, Rivers has made a speedy recover. He was active in the Chargers’ minicamp and he’s going to be ready to play for the Chargers in training camp. He probably won’t practice twice a day like everyone else but there’s no reason to believe he won’t be ready for the regular season opener.
That said, Rivers was an …read more

David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
All season long, David Garrard proved himself as a heady quarterback who doesn’t make mistakes. Late in the season, he proved that he could produce through the air when needed. Heading into 2008, Garrard looks like he should be a solid fantasy quarterback option.
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
After a rocky …read more

Playoff Fantasy Football: Injury Updates

QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Rivers is listed as doubtful but he’s expected to play. Even if he’s suited up, avoid him at all costs. Their reports that Rivers has a partially torn ACL that he’s going to try to play through. If that’s the case, we’ll likely see Billy Volek at some point.
RB LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
Tomlinson missed time last week but should be fine this week. Even with an unsettled quarterback situation, Tomlinson is a safe start. Norv Turner likes to run the ball and he’ll stick with the run even if he’s down. Make sure Tomlinson …read more

Playoff Fantasy Football – Conference Championship Sleepers

QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
The New England Patriots defense is good but it’ s hardly as dominant as some league pundits make it out to be. With the Patriots keying the run on Sunday, look for the Chargers to throw early and throw often. Although Rivers is a bit banged up, he should be able to throw the ball downfield and hope for big plays out of Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants
Bradshaw doesn’ t even start for the Giants but he’ s been impressive when carrying the ball. He actually leads the Giants …read more

NFL Quarterbacks Back in the Day

My fellow b5 sports blogger Allison Boyer of BCS Frenzy put together a series of posts about the NFL quarterbacks back when they were in college.
Let’s take a look at the four guys who are left playing this weekend:
Tom Brady, New England
Brett Favre, Green Bay
Eli Manning, New York (Giants)
Philip Rivers, San Diego(Questionable this weekend)

And here’s the four that got knocked out of the NFL playoffs last week:
David Garrard, Jacksonville
Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle
Peyton Manning, Indianapolis
Tony Romo, Dallas

Playoff Fantasy Football – Injury Update

QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Rivers hurt his knee late in the game against the Indianapolis Colts and wasn’t able to return. As the Chargers head into a matchup next week against the New England Patriots, it’ll be interesting to see who will start at quarterback. If Rivers can’t go, Billy Volek will get the nod. However, in terms of fantasy football, neither player is a promises play next week.

Playoff Fantasy Football – Wild Card Sunday

Here are some players that could have big games on Sunday and help lead your playoff fantasy football team to victory:
QB Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Rivers has had a rocky season but the Chargers will need him to perform well against the Titans. When healthy, the Titans can defend the run rather well. If Tennessee stuffs the run, it’ll be up to Rivers to move the ball. He has good options on offense and should be able to produce. He might get intercepted a time or two in this game but he should be up decent enough stats.
RB Brandon Jacobs, …read more
