With the fantasy basketball season now over, let’s review which point guards separated themselves from the pack. Who were the best fantasy point guards in 2008? Let’s take a look.
5) Deron Williams, Utah Jazz
Increasingly getting better each season, Deron Williams should remain a top fantasy point guard for many seasons to come. He can score, he can pass, he can shoot and every aspect of his game keeps getting better and better.
4) Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns
When it comes to passing, few in the history of the game have been better than Nash. However, Nash’s shooting in …read more

Most Surprising Point Guards in Fantasy Basketball

Rafer Alston, Houston Rockets
The Rockets are on a 20-game winning streak and one of the biggest reasons is the play of Rafer Alston. Alston struggled a bit earlier in the season but he’s playing great right now. Over the last month or so, Alston has really improved and he has become a quality fantasy option.
Beno Udrih, Sacramento Kings
The Kings gave a lot of reasons for why they traded Mike Bibby, but perhaps the biggest reason was because the team thinks it has found a better point guard in Beno Udrih. Udrih is a player who can score, …read more

Tyronn Lue to Mavericks

According to reports, Tyronn Lue will sign a contract with the Dallas Mavericks. While this move won’t send ripples through the fantasy basketball world, it should at least be noted.
Many teams were interested in signing Lue. He’s a quick point guard who can score and also pass the ball a bit. Against quick offensive players, he’s a deceptively good defender. However, he can struggle against stronger players.
On the Mavs, he will pair with JJ Barea to form the backup for Jason Kidd. Jason Terry will also play some point guard when Kidd rests. Both Barea and Lue have their weaknesses …read more

Top Fantasy Basketball Rookie Point Guards

Mike Conley, Memphis Grizzlies
It didn’t take Mike Conley long to beat out Damon Stoudamire for the starting point guard spot in Memphis. This kid is quick and has a great feel for the game. He has all the tools – both mentally and physically – to eventually become a very good point guard.

Acie Law, Atlanta Hawks
While Acie Law hasn’t been overly impressive this season, the Hawks drafted him to be their point guard of the future. Expect him to get a chance in the second half of the NBA season to play point guard full time. He’s a smart player, …read more

Waiver Wire Point Guards

Right now in fantasy basketball, there are some interesting point guards on the waiver wire. Each of the four point guards below would be quality waiver wire pickups. While none of the four are sure bets, they each could blossom into very good fantasy players.
Mike Conley, Memphis Grizzlies
Conley recently returned from injury and is now in the starting lineup for the Grizzlies. With Damon Stoudamire placed on the inactive list for the game, it’s obvious that the Grizzlies will give Conley every chance to win this starting position. And while he’s young and playing difficult position, expect Conley to put …read more

Fantasy Basketball: Sleeper Point Guards

Anthony Johnson, Atlanta Hawks
Johnson has been starting for most of the season for the Hawks. However, as of late he has really elevated his game. In the last two games, he’s been fantastic. Against the Utah Jazz, Johnson had 17 points and 14 assists. Against the Miami Heat, Johnson had 21 points and nine assists. Pick him up if you have the room to see if he can keep this up.
Luke Ridnour, Seattle Supersonics
Ridnour isn’t a very good fit with the Supersonics. However, there’s rumors picking up steam that Ridnour could be on his way out of town. If he …read more
