Best Postseason Fantasy NBA Point Guards

Early on during the 2009 NBA playoffs, a number of point guards are playing at amazingly high levels. If you are playing playoff fantasy basketball, you definitely want to have one of these point guards quarterbacking your fantasy team:
Chauncey Billups, Denver Nuggets
During the regular season, Billups was very good. In the postseason, he’s taken his game up another level. He’s been simply amazing in his first two outings as a Nugget during the playoffs.
Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics
Filling the void left by an injured Kevin Garnett is point guard Rajon Rondo. He’s a certifiable star at this point and his numbers …read more

Best Fantasy Basketball Passers – January

Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns
Although Steve Nash got off to a slow start after the departure of Mike D’Antoni, he’s starting to find his old self. In the month of January, he’s leading the NBA in assists — averaging more than 11 per game. Expect him to continue to play at a high level for the rest of the season.
Deron Williams, Utah Jazz
Early in the season, Deron Williams missed time due to an ankle injury. Even when he got back on the court, he wasn’t playing that well. But now he seems like he’s close to 100% and he’s back to …read more

Stephon Marbury to Celtics – Fantasy Impact

Stephon Marbury to Celtics – Fantasy Impact

As you’ve probably heard, rumors have Stephon Marbury heading to the Boston Celtics once he completes his buyout from the New York Knicks. Multiple league sources have privately agreed with this rumor.
For the Celtics, Marbury would give the team another scorer off the bench. While the bench is solid, it doesn’t have many true scorers outside of Eddie Houston. Marbury could also potentially fill part of the role Sam Cassell filled last season as a guy who comes into the game to put points on the board.
Although he may be useful for the Celtics, there’s not much of a chance …read more

Boston Celtics Injury Updates – NBA Finals

With the Boston Celtics up 3-1 in the 2008 NBA Finals, not all the news is good for the Celtics. Three of their main players — Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce — are dealing with injuries. Perkins and Rondo weren’t able to finish Game 4 in which the Celtics had the great comeback in the history of the NBA Finals.
Kendrick Perkins
Kendrick Perkins hurt his shoulder in Game 4 and his status for Game 5 is in doubt. The Celtics are saying that he has less than a 50/50 chance of playing. Perkins, …read more

Rajon Rondo Injury Update – 2008 NBA Finals

Rajon Rondo, the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics, suffered an ankle injury during Game 3. He was able to return to the game but afterwards his ankle swelled up. He has reportedly been diagnosed with a bone bruise.
The good news for Boston is that Rondo sounds like he’s going to play in Game 4. Rondo is a defensive minded point guard who can also rack up assists in a hurry. Without Rondo, the Celtics would really be hurting at the point guard position. The only other options are Sam Cassell and Eddie House. …read more

Best Players on the 2008 Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are the Eastern Conference representatives in the 2008 NBA Finals. Who have been the best players on their team this year during the playoffs? Let’s take a look:
Kevin Garnett
Their anchor in the middle, Kevin Garnett is immensely important to the Celtics. While he has been hesitant to look for his shot at times, there is no denying his overall impact on the team. The 2008 NBA Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 21.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the playoffs.
Paul Pierce

Sam Cassell to the Celtics – Fantasy Perspective

Although it hasn’t happened yet, the worst kept secret in the league is that Sam Cassell will end up with the Boston Celtics. Expect the Los Angeles Clippers to buyout Cassell before Mar. 1 and then for Cassell to sign a contract with Boston.
While the move will definitely be an upgrade for Cassell in the NBA, how is the move going to affect his value in fantasy basketball?
Surprisingly enough, it’d likely be bad news for Cassell owners. With the Clippers, Cassell gets to shoot and handle the ball as much as he wants. The Clips don’t have many …read more

Damon Stoudamire to the Suns or Celtics?

Damon Stoudamire to the Suns or Celtics?

The Grizzlies and Stoudamire are reportedly nearing a buyout on his contract. Stoudamire, who began the season as the team’s starting point guard, would become an attractive free agent on the open market.
Stoudamire was having a decent season in Memphis until they gave the job to rookie Mike Conley. Now Stoudamire doesn’t have a role, as the backup to Conley is second-year player Kyle Lowry.
If Stoudamire is bought out and becomes a free agent, one exciting prospect is he joins the Phoenix Suns. The Suns need a backup point guard who can spell Steve Nash. In the fantasy world, …read more

Sleeper Point Guards

Sleeper Point Guards

The point guard position is very deep in this year.  There are about 25 legit point guard prospects that could start for your fantasy team and produce at a high level.  While the ones at the top are obvious, here are three sleeper point guard picks for the 2007-08 season.
Deron Williams, Utah Jazz
A lot of people have Williams rated outside of their top ten fantasy point guards.  Personally, I think that is ridiculously low.  If you watched how he played in the playoffs, you would have watched a superstar being born.  Williams is going to average a large number of …read more
