For the time being, Williams is slowed with a wrist injury to his left wrist. During a practice, Williams landed hard and sprained his wrist. The Cowboys are listed him as day-to-day but the injury isn’t expected to keep him out too long.

After being traded to the Cowboys last season from the Detroit Lions, he was quiet in his ten games. He had only 19 catches for 198 yards and one touchdown. In the fantasy football world, fantasy owners will want much more production in 2009.

In his career, he has shown very good potential. In his first three seasons with the Lions, he had at least seven touchdowns in each season. In 2006, he had a career-high 1,310 receiving yards.

For the 2009 fantasy football season, Williams is definitely a high-risk, high-reward type player. Since he’s the Cowboys’ number one receiver, he’ll likely be valued highly. But unless he significantly improves his production, he’ll be a bust.

QB Kyle Orton, Chicago Bears
Coming into the 2008 fantasy football season, many considered Kyle Orton to be too bad to even put on a roster. Now, after another good performance in Week 7, Orton is starting to look like a legitimate fantasy football starter. In Week 7, he put up 283 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings.

RB Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
In fantasy football drafts, Steven Jackson was almost always a top five pick. Although he hadn’t lived up to that billing so far in 2008, his explosion in Week 7 was very impressive. He had three touchdowns to go with 160 rushing yards and 16 receiving yards. The bad news is that Jackson left the game late with an apparent injury.

WR Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
With Roy Williams now with the Dallas Cowboys, Calvin Johnson showed what he can do as a lead receiver. The former first round draft pick had 154 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 7. With most of the targets in Detroit heading his way now, Johnson is a player that could explode in any given week.

TE Owen Daniels, Houston Texans
Coming into Week 7, Owen Daniels didn’t have a touchdown. But the Texans tight end busted out in a big way with two touchdowns and 66 receiving yards this week. Daniels is quietly one of the better fantasy football tight ends in the NFL and he should continue to play better and better as the Texans offense improves.

If Tony Romo misses any action, Brad Johnson should be able to fill in decently enough. Against a poor defense, Johnson is a good start even at his old age due to all the offensive weapons at his disposal. However, be aware that Romo is necessarily out for Week 7 so you should still follow that storyline closely.

WR Shaun McDonald, Detroit Lions
Now that Roy Williams is a member of the Cowboys, Shaun McDonald is expected to start at wide receiver. While he’s not a great receiver, he showed that he has fantasy potential last year. Don’t start him on your fantasy football team right away but he’s a sleeper that could blossom later in the year.

TE Billy Miller, New Orleans Saints
If Jeremy Shockey misses another week, consider picking up and starting Billy Miller. Miller is getting a good amount of looks from Drew Brees and has performed pretty well. Another week in the starting lineup could spell a big day and perhaps a touchdown for Miller.

Brad Johnson will take over for an injured Tony Romo
Tony Romo injured his pinkie during the Week 6 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. The injury is expected to sideline Romo for up to a month. While Romo is out injured, Brad Johnson will take over the reins as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.
Although Romo is expected to take at least two weeks to heal, there is growing sentiment that he’ll fight through the injury. If he can withstand the pain and throw accurately, there’s a chance that he will play in Week 7.
Although Romo is expected to take at least two weeks to heal, there is growing sentiment that he’ll fight through the injury. If he can withstand the pain and throw accurately, there’s a chance that he will play in Week 7. However, the more likely scenario is he’ll let the injury heal a bit.

Brad Johnson, even at age 40, should be decent enough as a starter. He’s a smart player who has a Super Bowl title on his resume. He doesn’t have great arm strength and is surely an injury risk but he should be able to keep the Cowboys above water until Romo returns.

Even though Johnson won’t hurt the Cowboys much on the field, he will likely hurt the fantasy value of the receiving targets. Terrell Owens, Jason Witten and the newly acquired Dallas Cowboy Roy Williams will not be at 100% of their fantasy potential until Romo returns.

While this is bad news for Glenn owners in 2008 fantasy football, it is good news for those who own Patrick Crayton. Crayton, who started games last year when Glenn was out, will likely be the full-time starter next to Terrell Owens.

The Cowboys will keep a lookout for possible wide receiver additions via trade or free agency, but it appears that Dallas truthfully thinks they have sufficient receiver talent on their roster.

Here is a video that talks more about Glenn being waived by the Cowboys:

The truth of the matter is that Glenn is definitely a fantasy football sleeper in 2008. While the Cowboys have tried to trade for a number of star wide receivers such as Chad Johnson and Roy Williams, none of those trades look imminent. That leaves Glenn and Patrick Crayton as the team’s best options for the second starting receiver job next to Terrell Owens.

Crayton did a fine job in 2007, however the Cowboys would like to move him back to his previous role as the team’s third wide receiver. That means that Glenn is currently the leading candidate for the second slot. The only thing that could hold Glenn back right now is a flare-up of his injured knee.

If Glenn starts, he’s a very good fantasy football option. The Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the league with Tony Romo, Marion Barber III and Owens leading the way. Crayton last year put up good stats but Glenn, if healthy, could outdo those stats.

Keep a close eye on Glenn leading up to your fantasy football draft. If he still appears in line for a starting position in Dallas, remember him in the middle to late rounds when you are looking for a sleeper wide receiver.

Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions has found his way into many trade rumors since the end of the 2007 NFL season. Williams is a very talented wide receiver who some speculate may be on the move.

Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions has found his way into many trade rumors since the end of the 2007 NFL season. Williams is a very talented wide receiver who some speculate may be on the move.

In 2007, Williams had 838 yards, five touchdowns and caught 64 passes. Williams missed four games due to injury. While it was a solid season, it didn’t compare to his numbers in 2006. That said, Williams played all 16 games and totaled 82 catches, 1,310 yards and seven touchdowns.

It’s not believed that the Lions are openly shopping him, but the team will likely let him go if they receive an offer that they deem fair. What teams are looking to add Williams?

Basically, every team that has a hole at wide receiver has been linked to Williams. Those teams include the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.

In Dallas, Williams would team with Terrell Owens to from a deadly one-two punch. Williams would be returning to the state he went to college (University of Texas). The Redskins watched as all their receivers struggled last year and bringing in Williams would definitely be a big upgrade. The Eagles need a big, strong wide receiver to become the team’s leading redzone target.

No matter where Williams is in 2008, he’s in line for a bounce back fantasy football season. If he stays healthy, there’s no reason why he can’t go for 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns.

QB Matt Schaub, Houston Texans – Schaub left the game on Sunday with a dislocated left shoulder. The Texans are hoping that it isn’t a season ending injury. Schaub’s backup is Sage Rosenfels, who has actually played pretty well in relief. That said, Houston and their offense is best with Schaub at the helm.

RB Derrick Ward, New York Giants – The official report on Ward is an ankle injury. However, there are reports out of New York that Ward broke his fibula. If that’s the case, Ward is obviously out for the season. The Giants, whose regular starting running back Brandon Jacobs has a hamstring injury, had to depend on Rueben Droughns in Week 13.

RB LenDale White, Tennessee Titans – White suffered a dislocated finger in the game against the Texans. While his status is uncertain for Week 14, he should be okay to go. A dislocated finger isn’t a pleasant injury but it isn’t too serious for a running back in the NFL. However, if White does miss the game, expect Chris Brown to get the start.

RB Jesse Chatman, Miami Dolphins – Chatman entered the week banged up and left the game with an ankle injury. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams out for the season, the Dolphins’ backfield is getting amazingly thin. Next in line appears to be Samkon Gado.

WR Roy Williams, Detroit Lions – Williams sprained his knee in the Lions loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams tried to return to the game but his knee injury wouldn’t let him get back on the field. If Williams misses any action, the Lions have three wide receivers (Calvin Johnson, Mike Furrey and Shaun McDonald) who should all get more passes thrown their way.

WR Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals – Boldin suffered a dislocated toe on his left foot versus the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He was forced to leave the game and was unable to return. With Larry Fitzgerald also injured, that catapulted Bryant Johnson into the top receiver spot. Keep an eye on the practice reports this week to see if Boldin or Fitzgerald is going to be ready next week for Arizona.

During the three games on Thanksgiving, a few players stood out – for good reasons and bad. While you digest your turkey, here’s a look at two players whose stock are on the rise after their play on Thanksgiving:

During the three games on Thanksgiving, a few players stood out – for good reasons and bad. While you digest your turkey, here’s a look at two players whose stock are on the rise after their play on Thanksgiving:

Kevin Jones, Detroit Lions
Even though the Lions lost, Jones looks to be back on the right track. After a pair of horrible outings in his last two contests, Jones put together a nice game against the Green Bay Packers – one of the best defenses against the run. Jones finished with 120 total yards and a touchdown on 20 rushes and two receptions. Although the Lions have a tough upcoming schedule, Jones showed enough promise to send his stock back on the rise.

Kenton Keith, Indianapolis Colts
After Joseph Addai left with a neck injury in the first half, Keith against proved that he’s capable of carrying the load for the Colts. He ran for 74 yards on 17 carries, for a healthy average of 4.4 yards per rush. Although Addai returned to the game and later got a touchdown, Addai is proving to be less than durable. If he goes down injured, Keith becomes one of the most valuable players in fantasy football.

Here’s a look at two players whose stocks fell on Thanksgiving:

Kellen Clemens, New York Jets
A lot of people in the fantasy football world labeled Clemens as a sleeper for the stretch run of the season. Instead, Clemens looked inept against the mediocre pass defense of the Dallas Cowboys. He completed just 12-of-27 pass attempts for 142 yards and an interception. If Clemens can’t produce against the Cowboys, you might as well hold him out until he proves that he’s worth anything in fantasy football.

Roy Williams, Detroit Lions
Williams came into this NFL with many pundits predicting that this would be his breakout season. That doesn’t really look like it’s going to be the case. There are a multitude of problems that likely won’t allow Williams to become elite. First of all, the offense isn’t as high-powered as many thought it would be this season. Secondly, there are too many quality receivers, including the highly touted Calvin Johnson. And finally, it just doesn’t appear that Williams has the inner drive to be great. He could prove us wrong but for the time being, Williams doesn’t have the look of an top-notch wide receiver.
