2009 NFL Draft – Top Running Backs

1. Knowshon Moreno, Georgia
Entering the season, Knowshon Moreno was regarded as a great running back prospect. After doing nothing to harm that reputation, it wouldn’t surprise many if the RB from Georgia is the first running back off the board in the 2009 NFL Draft.
2. Beanie Wells, Ohio State
If there is anyone who could knock Moreno off his perch, it’d be Beanie Wells. Wells is extremely talented and could step in and help an NFL team right away. In each of his three seasons at Ohio State, Wells has averaged at least 5.5 yards per carry in each season.

Chicago Bears Signs Matt Forte – Fantasy Impact

The Chicago Bears signed rookie running back Matt Forte to a four-year deal. Forte, who attended Tulane, is the leading candidate to be the starting running back for the Bears in 2008.
Coming into this offseason, the Bears were prepared to go with Cedric Benson as the team’s starter once again. But Benson got arrested twice, once in a boat and once in a car, and the Bears decided to release him. With Benson out of a job, the Bears now turn to a rookie.
While Chicago also has Adrian Peterson and Garrett Wolfe on the roster, Forte is …read more

Running Back Rankings – 2008 Fantasy Football Draft Projections

Heading into the 2008 fantasy football season, there will be great debate about which running back should be taken first. On one hand, you have LaDainian Tomlinson who has been a fantasy football stud for many years. On the other hand, you have Adrian Peterson who showed limitless potential in his rookie season in the NFL. Which one do we choose right now?
1. LaDainian Tomlison – He’s been too good for too long to pass up.
2. Adrian Peterson – He has as much upside as any player in 2008.
3. Steven Jackson – Struggled in 2007 but should …read more

Darren McFadden to the New England Patriots?

The New England Patriots are bringing Darren McFadden in for a pre-draft workout in the next couple of weeks. While many draft experts would be shocked if the Patriots actually selected McFadden, New England apparently wants to take a closer look at the star running back out of Arkansas.
New England currently has a lot of depth at running back. Laurence Maroney is currently the team’s starting running back. Sammy Morris is still on the roster. Kevin Falk is a big game player. Even fullback Heath Evans has shown an ability to run the ball.
Would the Patriots actually draft McFadden? …read more

Shaun Alexander Free Agent News

While Shaun Alexander isn’t technically a free agent yet, it’s just a matter of time before he’s released by the Seattle Seahawks. The latest rumor has Alexander being waived at the earliest on April 1st and the latest on June 2nd.
Once he hit the free agent market, there will be teams interested in signing him, even though Alexander struggled mightily in 2007. He averaged 3.5 yards per carry and had only four touchdowns.
However, it wasn’t too long ago that Alexander was one of the best backs in the league and one of the best players in all of …read more

Who Will Draft Darren McFadden?

With the 2008 NFL Draft about a month away, the question that most people want to know is who is going to pull the trigger and draft Darren McFadden. McFadden, who was regarded by almost everyone to be the most exciting player in the 2007 college football season, is expected to go in the top ten.
Not too long ago, scouts weren’t totally sure about McFadden. They wondered whether he’d test out to be a high-quality athlete and whether his off the field character flags would become a concern. But McFadden tested out to be a great athlete and he’s putting …read more

Warrick Dunn 2008 Fantasy Projections

After six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Warrick Dunn is going back to the team where it all started. Dunn signed a contract to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to give the team help at running back.
Dunn had a good run in Atlanta but at 33-years-old, he’s entering into perhaps his final season in the NFL. He probably doesn’t have much left in the tank. However, in Tampa Bay, Jon Gruden has shown that he trusts and will play veterans before he’d play a younger player. With that in mind, Dunn could get a decent amount of carries in …read more

TJ Duckett 2008 Fantasy Projections

TJ Duckett recently signed with the Seattle Seahawks and will add depth to the team at running back. Duckett, who some say weighs about 260 pounds at the moment, is a large man who could make a difference for the Seahawks in 2008.
While Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris remain in place, there is little doubt that the Seahawks need help at the running back position. Alexander had a poor season last year and it seems like the end of his career is near. Morris gives good effort but he’s just not strong enough to be an every down back. Enter …read more

Michael Turner to Falcons – 2008 Fantasy Projection

On Sunday, a report surfaced that has Michael Turner signing with the Atlanta Falcons to be the team’s team lead running back. Turner, who spent the beginning of his career backing up LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego, finally has a team of his own.
This was a fantastic signing by the Falcons. Turner is the type of player you can build an offense around. He’s tough, strong and has a good open field burst. The only question remaining is whether he’s durable enough to survive a 16 game season.
Even though the Falcons offense is still a work in progress, Turner should …read more
