Bobby Jackson Broken Cheekbone – Fantasy Impact

Bobby Jackson, who had been starting for the Sacramento Kings at point guard, suffered a broken cheekbone in a recent game and will have to undergo surgery. Following the procedure, the Kings will know whether or not Jackson will be able to play again this season.

Since the February, Jackson had emerged as a fantasy relevant. He had been getting good minutes and producing decent numbers across the board.
With Jackson sidelined, expect Beno Udrih to get most of the minutes at point guard. Udrih has started most of the games for the Kings this year at point guard but missed …read more

Top Five Worst Teams in The NBA – 2008

5. Golden State Warriors
Not too long ago, the Warriors were one of the most exciting teams in the NBA. Having knocked off the 67-win Dallas Mavericks in the 2007 playoffs, many thought the Warriors had a chance to become an contender. Nowadays, it’s just a matter of how many lottery balls Golden State will accumulate.
4. Sacramento Kings
With Kevin Martin struggling with an ankle injury, the Kings simply aren’t a good basketball team. They don’t have many quality scorers and the overall skill on the team isn’t very high. The good news is that the team has a couple of solid …read more

Best Fantasy Rookies – Early Analysis

Which fantasy basketball rookies are off to a good start in the NBA? Here’s a look at our early top five:
1. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls
Coming into the NBA, everyone knew Derrick Rose could pass the ball. What is surprising NBA scouts is his ability to score the ball. He uses his combination of quickness and strength to get to the rim and score against bigger defenders. Since he’s starting and already playing big minutes, he’s not only looking like a good fantasy basketball player but also the lead candidate for Rookie of the Year.
2. Michael Beasley, Miami Heat
Although he has …read more

Kevin Martin Video – Crossover Dunk vs. Blazers

Kevin Martin is having a very good preseason. In the video at the end of this entry, you can see Martin crossover Rudy Fernandez and then dunk on Greg Oden. The video is from a recent preseason game between the Sacramento Kings and the Portland Trail Blazers.
In preseason, Martin is averaging 20.5 points in only 26.3 minutes per game. He’s also shooting 60.9% from the floor, 37.5% from beyond the three-point arc and 88.6% from the free throw line.
If you are looking for a scorer on your fantasy basketball team, it’ll be tough to do much better than Martin. While …read more

Center Fantasy Basketball Busts in 2008

Marcus Camby, Los Angeles Clippers
Although Marcus Camby has been a very good fantasy basketball player the last few years, look for his reign of dominance to come to an end. First of all, Camby is always an injury risk and he’s dodged quite a few bullets the last couple of years. Second of all, the Clippers will play at a much slower pace than the Nuggets. That in itself will lower his stats across the board. There is also some question regarding how well he will mesh on the court next to Chris Kaman.
Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers
Pau Gasol is …read more

Beno Udrih Video – Crossover Against Kobe

Beno Udrih of the Sacramento Kings is sometimes criticized for his ballhandling ability. Kobe Bryant is often hailed as a great on ball defender. However, a funny thing happened when the two players came together in a recent preseason game — Udrih pulled out a wicked crossover against Kobe. The result was a swish on a jumper while Kobe fell to the ground.
So far in the preseason, Udrih has done but impress. He’s virtually guaranteed to be the opening day starter at point guard for Sacramento. With his solid shooting and passing skills, Udrih will be a very solid fantasy …read more

Point Guard Busts 2008 – Fantasy Basketball

Chauncey Billups, Detroit Pistons
While Chauncey Billups could have another solid season, there are some red flags. First of all, he has Rodney Stuckey behind him and Stuckey is viewed as the future of the franchise in Detroit. Second of all, Joe Dumars seems ready and willing to trade Billups if the right trade becomes available. If Billups ends up in a bad situation, his value could plummet.
Mo Williams, Cleveland Cavaliers
Common sense says that if you play next to a very good passer like LeBron James, your fantasy value will rise. However, that hasn’t really been the case. A lot of …read more

Small Forward Sleepers – Fantasy 2008

Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Even though many feel Kevin Durant underachieved in his rookie season because he wasn’t Michael Jordan reincarnate, Durant was still good and should be even better in the 2008-09 fantasy basketball season.
Francisco Garcia, Sacramento Kings
With Ron Artest now in Houston, Francisco Garcia should see a lot of starts during the upcoming season. When he gets time, he has proven to be a player that can help in a whole list of categories.
Marvin Williams, Atlanta Hawks
Josh Childress signing in Greece should help Marvin Williams stay on the court. Childress ate up some of his time in the …read more

Shareef Abdur-Rahim Retires – Fantasy Impact

Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who in his heyday was a very good fantasy basketball player, retired from the Sacramento Kings on Monday. Abdur-Rahim retired due to a chronically injured knee.
Although not much was planned for Abdur-Rahim during the 2008-09 season, his retirement may open up more of an opportunity for the younger bigmen on the Kings. Justin Thompson, the 2008 first round draft pick for Sacramento, has a chance to start at power forward this year. During summer league, Thompson should a varied game that even allowed him to play minutes a small forward.
The Kings may also decide to play more of …read more

Most Surprising Point Guards in Fantasy Basketball

Rafer Alston, Houston Rockets
The Rockets are on a 20-game winning streak and one of the biggest reasons is the play of Rafer Alston. Alston struggled a bit earlier in the season but he’s playing great right now. Over the last month or so, Alston has really improved and he has become a quality fantasy option.
Beno Udrih, Sacramento Kings
The Kings gave a lot of reasons for why they traded Mike Bibby, but perhaps the biggest reason was because the team thinks it has found a better point guard in Beno Udrih. Udrih is a player who can score, …read more
