The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly going after Shawn Marion of the Toronto Raptors. To try to acquire him, Dallas is offering the expiring contract of Jerry Stackhouse in what would be a sign-and-trade deal.
On the Mavs, Marion would likely start alongside Jason Kidd, Josh Howard, Dirk Nowtizki and Marcin Gortat. That would give the Mavs a deep starting lineup with capable players at each position.
Marion used to be one of the best all-around players in the game but he has slowed down the last few years. Since leaving the Phoenix Suns, his fantasy stats have suffered massively. Specifically, his …read more

About a month ago, we talked about a Shawn Marion for Jermaine O’Neal trade. On Friday, that trade finally become a reality for the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat.
Thrown into the deal were Marcus Banks going to the Heat to the Raptors and Jamario Moon going from the Raptors to the Heat. Banks could get time at point guard for the Raptors, especially considering that Jose Calderon has been injury prone as of late. Moon, likewise, could find some minutes off the bench for the Heat.
However, Marion and O’Neal are the two big names in this trade. In terms of …read more
Jermaine O’Neal for Shawn Marion? Analysis

A hot rumor out of Miami is that Pat Riley is considering a trade that would send Shawn Marion to the Toronto Raptors for Jermaine O’Neal. While this deal doesn’t appear imminent, it does make quite a bit of sense for both teams.
For the Heat, they desperately need a true center. And although O’Neal has battled injuries and ineffective play the last few seasons, he’s still one of the better available centers in the league. Right now, the Heat are starting Joel Anthony at center. That’s all you need to know about how desperate the Heat are for a legit …read more

Shawn Marion, Miami Heat
Although Shawn Marion is usually one of the safer bets in all of fantasy basketball, his situation just isn’t as great as usual this year. He no longer has Steve Nash helping him out and is instead in a lame duck type situation with the Heat due to his expiring contract. Not only that, the Heat have a lot of players that could get time at the forward positions including Michael Beasley, Udonis Haslem, James Jones, Dorell Wright and Yakhouba Diawara.

If the Chicago Bulls were to hire Mike D’Antoni as their head coach, how would that affect the fantasy basketball world? The short answer is that wherever D’Antoni ends up, expect the players on his new team to become very good fantasy basketball players.
While D’Antoni’s days with the Phoenix Suns appear to be numbered, there are a number of teams that are interested in him. The team that reportedly has the most interest is the Bulls, however the New York Knicks are also said to be interested.
With the Suns, D’Antoni had a very successful run. Not only …read more
Best Fantasy Basketball Small Forwards in 2008

1) Shawn Marion, Miami Heat
While Shawn Marion split his time between the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat this season, he remained a fantasy stud. Marion’s game is built for fantasy basketball and although he won’t have Steve Nash on his side anymore, he should continue to be a fantasy force.
2) LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
LeBron James is probably the most talented and perhaps the best player in the NBA but his fantasy game isn’t as flawless. He’s no doubt a top three small forward, however he’s not as overwhelmingly dominant in fantasy basketball as he is in the NBA.

Shawn Marion Injury Update

Struggling with a back injury, Shawn Marion missed didn’t play for the third time in the last four games. The Miami Heat definitely missed Marion as they scored only 54 points as the Toronto Raptors crushed Miami by 42 points.
While it’s likely that Marion actually has an injury, what is complicating matters is the fact that the Heat are currently tanking. Their season is over and all they are playing for right now are ping pong balls. The more losses the better. With that in mind, the Heat will keep Marion out as long as possible.
Even if Marion is able …read more

If the rumor becomes reality and Shaquille O’Neal gets traded to the Phoenix Suns for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, this will be a huge trade in the NBA and a huge trade for fantasy basketball.
Looking at it from an NBA perspective, the Suns are doing this trade to try to win a championship this season. They’re small ball formula simply wasn’t going to get them past teams like the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers with Pau Gasol. Now, with O’Neal on their side, the Suns suddenly have a chance to win a championship. It was …read more
Top Ten Fantasy Basketball Players
January 14, 2008 by Stephen Kersey
I’ve crunched the numbers and over the last month, here are the top ten fantasy basketball players in the NBA:
10) Andrew Bynum, Los Angeles Lakers
Bynum has been a stud for the Lakers. He’s quickly becoming the second best player on the team and is showing huge potential. His fantasy numbers have been great as of late.
9) Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers’ superstar is getting it done, as well. Bryant’s scoring numbers aren’t as spectacular as they have been in the past, but he’s arguably a much better player now.
8) Jason Richardson, Charlotte Bobcats
Richardson has been a great addition to …read more

1) Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Nowitzki started relatively slow this season. However, as of late, he’s been on fire. As of late, Nowitzki has even added shot blocking to the areas in which he can help your fantasy team. If you want to trade for Nowitzki, do it now before others realize how on fire he really is.
2) Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
This should be no surprise. Paul has been playing great all season. Recently he has struggled with his shot a bit, but even that has barely lessened his fantasy value. Paul has really separated himself as the best fantasy …read more
