Gilbert Arenas, Washington Wizards
It’s easy to give up on Gilbert Arenas. He’s gone from Agent Zero to Agent Injured. It seems like every other blog he writes is about him undergoing a new surgery. That said, when he’s healthy he has a light greener than just about any player in the NBA. In fantasy basketball, that is gold.

Marcus Williams, Golden State Warriors
Being at the helm of the Golden State Warriors’ run and shoot offense should do wonders for Marcus Williams’ fantasy value. As long as he stays healthy and stays in shape, there’s really no reason for him not to be a huge contributor — until at least Monta Ellis is healthy.

Rodney Stuckey, Detroit Pistons
As a rookie, Rodney Stuckey flashed superstar potential at times. While he’s still stuck in a log jam, that could change at any given time. A trade or an injury could push Stuckey into the starting lineup where he’d do much fantasy basketball damage.

Ramon Sessions, Milwaukee Bucks
Although brief, Ramon Sessions’ stint with the Bucks last season was phenomenal. He looked very good and his stats were off the charts. If he’s given a chance to start during the 2008-09, he might end up the point guard sleeper of all point guard sleepers.

Sleeper Point Guards – February 2008

Earl Watson, Seattle Supersonics
Watson has been starting for the Sonics for a while now and has slowly improved since the start of the season. He still doesn’t shoot for a high percentage and his offense remains erratic, however his assists numbers have gone up nicely as of late. With the Sonics winning more games lately, Watson has a chance to be a decent fantasy point guard.

Earl Boykins, Charlotte Bobcats
As I talked about in this blog entry, Boykins has a chance to be a very sneaky pickup this season. Considering he’s available in most leagues, picking up Boykins is the type of move that can really bolster your team. Boykins right now is working his way back into shape but if he can lock down a starting job, look for him to become a point guard who can put up good stats.

Louis Williams, Philadelphia 76ers
The closer the trade deadline comes, the more likely that Andre Miller will be traded. Once Miller is traded, Williams is expected to become the team’s starting point guard. Lately, Williams has increased his production from off the bench. Pick him up now and reap the rewards when Miller gets traded.

Travis Diener, Indiana Pacers
With Jamaal Tinsley struggling with injuries and off court issues, Diener is a player who could end up starting on a long-term basis. Diener isn’t a hugely skilled point guard but he can shoot the three and he can rack up assists. He’ll never be a great fantasy player but he can definitely but rosterable.

Javaris Crittenton, Memphis Grizzlies
Although Crittenton has Mike Conley and Kyle Lowry ahead of him in the rotation, he’s going to get some playing time for Memphis. Since Crittenton has good size, he could even buy time at shooting guard, especially since the Grizzlies play small most of the time anyways.

Anthony Johnson, Atlanta Hawks
Johnson has been starting for most of the season for the Hawks. However, as of late he has really elevated his game. In the last two games, he’s been fantastic. Against the Utah Jazz, Johnson had 17 points and 14 assists. Against the Miami Heat, Johnson had 21 points and nine assists. Pick him up if you have the room to see if he can keep this up.

Luke Ridnour, Seattle Supersonics
Ridnour isn’t a very good fit with the Supersonics. However, there’s rumors picking up steam that Ridnour could be on his way out of town. If he gets traded, Ridnour could find himself in a very good situation. He’s a good playmaker who is also a sneaky scorer. If he gets traded, pick him up.

Louis Williams, Philadelphia 76ers
Williams has been slowed as of late with a broken toe but he’s starting to play better. While his playing time is erratic because he comes off the bench, his stock will skyrocket if starter Andre Miller gets traded. And if the Sixers find themselves out of the playoff chase, there’s a real chance that Miller could be sent out as the team looks to rebuild.

Rafer Alston, Houston Rockets
Alston has been starting all year for the Rockets but hasn’t been much of a fantasy option to date. However, Alston has started to shoot the ball better, which is helping his fantasy stock immensely. In his last game, Alston had 18 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in one of his better games of the year.
