Terry Glenn Waived by the Cowboys

The drama between the Dallas Cowboys and Terry Glenn seems to have reached the end. The Cowboys on Friday decided to release Glenn after the wide receiver refused to sign an injury waiver.
While there is a chance that Glenn may return to the Cowboys if he clears waivers, those chances appear to be slim. More than likely, Glenn will try to catch on with another team or retire.
While this is bad news for Glenn owners in 2008 fantasy football, it is good news for those who own Patrick Crayton. Crayton, who started games last year when Glenn was out, will likely be the full-time starter next to Terrell Owens.
The Cowboys will keep a lookout for possible wide receiver additions via trade or free agency, but it appears that Dallas truthfully thinks they have sufficient receiver talent on their roster.
Here is a video that talks more about Glenn being waived by the Cowboys:
Wide Receiver Fantasy Sleepers in 2008

Anthony Gonzalez, Indianapolis Colts - With questions surrounding Marvin Harrison, Gonzalez holds a lot of value. If Gonzalez becomes a full-time starter, he could put up very good stats in 2008. As a rookie last season, Gonzalez proved he has very good skills.
Devin Hester, Chicago Bears - The Bears lost both of their top wide receivers to free agency. Someone is going to have to catch passes and it might as well be Devin Hester. The Bears coaching staff seems sold on the idea that Hester can be productive in the passing game.
Terry Glenn, Dallas Cowboys - If Glenn is starting for the Cowboys, he’ll surprise a lot of people in the fantasy football world. While his situation is a bit cloudy at the moment, keep an eye on Glenn as a possible sleeper for the 2008 season.

Terry Glenn Wants to Return to Cowboys

Terry Glenn recently spoke publicly about his wish to remain a player for the Dallas Cowboys. Glenn, who missed almost all of last season due to knee issues, has been barred from working out with the Cowboys due to injury concerns.
Glenn has a base salary of around $1.75M and the Cowboys want Glenn to accept a $500K buyout settlement if he re-injures his knee. Glenn hasn’t been able to pass a physical due to his knee and the Cowboys want to some protection in case he goes down again.
Even though he’s had multiple surgeries in the last year, Glenn reportedly will need microfracture surgery at some point to fix his knee. However, if he had microfracture surgery right now, he’d be forced to sit out the entire season.
The Cowboys want a wide receiver to put next to Terrell Owens. Patrick Crayton filled that role last year but Dallas wants Crayton to move to the third wide receiver position and have someone else be the second wide receiver. Glenn could fill that role if he returns and can remain healthy.

Terry Glenn 2008 Fantasy Projections

Terry Glenn suffered through an injury riddled 2007 NFL season that dropped him off of the fantasy football map. Even as the 2008 fantasy football season is approaching, there is little buzz surrounding Glenn and his role with the Dallas Cowboys.
The truth of the matter is that Glenn is definitely a fantasy football sleeper in 2008. While the Cowboys have tried to trade for a number of star wide receivers such as Chad Johnson and Roy Williams, none of those trades look imminent. That leaves Glenn and Patrick Crayton as the team’s best options for the second starting receiver job next to Terrell Owens.
Crayton did a fine job in 2007, however the Cowboys would like to move him back to his previous role as the team’s third wide receiver. That means that Glenn is currently the leading candidate for the second slot. The only thing that could hold Glenn back right now is a flare-up of his injured knee.
If Glenn starts, he’s a very good fantasy football option. The Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the league with Tony Romo, Marion Barber III and Owens leading the way. Crayton last year put up good stats but Glenn, if healthy, could outdo those stats.
Keep a close eye on Glenn leading up to your fantasy football draft. If he still appears in line for a starting position in Dallas, remember him in the middle to late rounds when you are looking for a sleeper wide receiver.
