QB Tom Brady, New England Patriots
After a spectacular Week 6 performance, Tom Brady is a very hot name in the fantasy football world. However, the Titans were banged up and Brady doesn’t look as comfortable as usual against good defenses. See what you can get for him and don’t be afraid to trade him if another owner is willing to buy high.

RB Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
Ronnie Brown has been very good to begin the 2009 fantasy football season. But last year he started off well and then faded down the stretch. Unload him now before that happens again.

WR Steve Smith, New York Giants
With Plaxico Burress in jail, Steve Smith has picked up the slack. However, Eli Manning has a ton of weapons and he might start looking elsewhere soon. Sell Smith while his value is still high.

TE Zach Miller, Oakland Raiders
Zach Miller is coming off of a big week. But with JaMarcus Russell at the helm, you can’t trust Miller on a week to week basis. Trade him while the going is good.

Best Fantasy Football Performances – Week 6

In Week 6 of the 2009 fantasy football season, a historic performance by Tom Brady. If you had Brady this week, your smile is no doubt from ear to ear. Along with Brady, who else performed at their best in Week 6? Let’s take a look.

QB Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Talk about domination. Tom Brady was 29-for-34 for 380 yards and six touchdowns. The scary thing is he didn’t even seem to try too hard. Is Brady back?

RB Thomas Jones, New York Jets
Thomas Jones had a great game — although he couldn’t stop the Jets from losing. Jones had 210 rushing yards on 22 attempts. He also chipped in with a rushing touchdown.

WR Randy Moss and Wes Welker, New England Patriots
Tom Brady’s two favorite targets had monster games in Week 6. Moss ent for eight catches, 129 yards and three touchdowns, while Welker had ten catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

TE Zach Miller, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders passing attack rarely gets praise. But Zach Miller was very good this week. He had six catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.

RB Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
Even though Matt Forte has started 2009 with a dud, don’t lose hope. His Week 2 stinker came against he stout Pittsburgh Steelers defense. Expect him to bounce back in a big way in the next two weeks.

Don’t give up on Greg Olsen yet. Jay Cutler is getting more and more comfortable and once he’s totally comfortable, expect Olsen to be a big part of the passing attack.

In Week 1 of the fantasy football season, there are a lot of very good matchups on paper for fantasy studs. Here’s a look at the best of the best matchups that we have located for fantasy football’s Week 1:

QB Tom Brady, New England Patriots
On Monday Night Football, Tom Brady goes against a Buffalo Bills team that seems to have horrible chemistry.

RB Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
As Brett Favre loosens up his aging body, expect the Vikings to give the rock to Adrian Peterson early and often.

WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
The last we saw Larry Fitzgerald he was setting all-time NFL playoff records. In Week 1 against the 49ers, he should stay hot.

TE Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Going up against the Raiders, Antonio Gates should get plenty of opportunities to start his 2009 fantasy football season out on the right foot.

K Kris Brown, Houston Texans

Matt Cassel Traded to the Chiefs – Analysis

The New England Patriots have traded quarterback Matt Cassel to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second round draft pick. Last season, Cassel got better and better as the QB for the Patriots after Tom Brady was lost for the season during the first game.

In Kansas City, Cassel is all but assured of being the starter. With new management in town, the Chiefs wanted a proven signal caller to run their offense — and they got one.

The good news for Cassel is the fact that the Chiefs have some talent on that end of the field. Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe is a big play threat and tight end Tony Gonzalez is still arguably the best player at his position in the NFL.

Cassel’s fantasy football value will be that of a top end backup quarterback heading into the 2009 fantasy football season. Some fantasy owners will roll the dice and hope that Cassel can have the success he had during the second half of the season with the Patriots. While that’s not overly likely, he is definitely a high-risk, high-reward type player.

As far as the Patriots are concerned, the trading of Cassel indicates that the team is happy with where Tom Brady is in his recovery. Brady has insisted that he’ll be ready to begin the 2009 fantasy football season and this move proves that the Patriots are confident in that happening.

Tom Brady Rehab on Schedule – Fantasy Impact

There have been a lot of worries in New England this summer concerning the health of Tom Brady. The Patriots didn’t help matters by franchising Matt Cassel – Brady’s backup.

But according to the latest report, Brady is progressing as expected. Although he faces a long recovery after the substantial knee injury he suffered in Week 1 of the 2008 fantasy football season, the time table has always had Brady being ready to go by the beginning of the 2009 fantasy season.

If Brady is healthy and can show fantasy football owners that he can return to his old form with a few good preseason games, there’s no reason why fantasy owners won’t jump all over him in 2009 fantasy football drafts.

At his best, Brady is the premiere fantasy quarterback in the NFL. With Randy Moss, Wes Welker and a team that likes to pass the ball, a healthy Brady is almost guaranteed to have 4,000 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2009.

However, if Brady is less than healthy, he’ll be a risky pick considering that his average draft position will still likely have him going in the second round. Keep a close eye on his progress during the offseason. But so far, so good for Brady.

Tom Brady Injury Update – Back for Opener

In the last few months, there have been some rumblings that Tom Brady of the New England Patriots was having a difficult time recovering from his major knee injury and could be his 2009 season could be in jeopardy. However, the latest word from Brady is that not only does he plan to play in 2009, he expects to be ready for the season opener.

While we’ll obviously know more nearer to start of training camp, this has to be classified as good news. If Brady is able to return by the start of the regular season, he will once again be one of the most sought after fantasy football quarterbacks. In dynasty leagues, even though his status is uncertain, Brady still holds a lot of value.

The question is what his redraft value will be for the 2009 fantasy football season. In 2008, Brady was a first round pick in most league. If healthy, there’s a chance that fantasy owners will once again consider making him a first round pick. However, more likely is Brady becoming a second round fantasy draft pick next season.

With the way Matt Cassel played this year, he’ll become an automatic handcuff for those teams that draft Brady — especially early on in the season. Cassel showed he’s more than capable of filling in and running the Patriots’ offense.
