RB Tatum Bell, Denver Broncos
With Peyton Hillis now out for the season with a hamstring injury, Tatum Bell is the starting running back in Denver. He’s had some success in the past in this system and should be extra motivated knowing that this could very well be his last chance to earn a spot in the NFL. Start him if your other options are shaky.

WR Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams
Torry Holt has quietly gotten better over the last few weeks. He’s running better routes and is getting open more often. In the last four weeks, he has 17 receptions and has had at least 60 yards in all but one of those games. He’ll likely have a breakout game at some point before the end of the season and Week 15 against the Seahawks is a possibility.

TE Donald Lee, Green Bay Packers
In each of the last two games, Donald Lee has a touchdown. In the last four games, he has three touchdowns. While he’s not getting a whole lot of passes thrown his way, he’s a definite threat near the end zone. Going against a mediocre Jacksonville Jaguars defense in Week 15 makes Lee a good play.

RB Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
With the news that Reggie Bush will miss at least a couple of weeks, Pierre Thomas now moves into a role where he’ll share carries with Deuce McAllister. While he may not get more than 10 to 12 carries per week, he’ll be a touchdown threat every week.

WR Malcom Floyd, San Diego Chargers
Chris Chambers is down injured and Malcom Floyd is doing a good Chambers impersonation. He’s using his long length to his advantage and is a great target in the end zone. As long as Chambers is out and Philip Rivers remains on fire, Floyd is a good start.

TE Visanthe Shiancoe, Minnesota Vikings
Since Gus Frerotte has taken over as quarterback of the Vikings, Vishanthe Shiancoe has emerged as a very good fantasy football tight end option. If he’s still available on your league’s waiver wire and you need a tight end, be sure to pick him up.

Quarterback – Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals
In Week 1, Carson Palmer went up against an amped Baltimore Ravens squad. He didn’t perform well but all hope isn’t lost. His schedule gets easier and he has two of the best wide receivers in the game in Chad Johnson (or Chad Ocho Cinco) and TJ Houshmandzadeh.

Running Back – Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Maurice Jones-Drew didn’t get many carries and didn’t do much in the carries he did get. But don’t think he’s in line for a poor season. MJD started off slow last year and ended up playing very well as the season wore on.

Wide Receiver – Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams
It’d be difficult for a wide receiver to be more invisible than Torry Holt was in Week 1. But Holt has a history of putting up numbers and should bounce back nicely. If you can buy him for a discounted cost, go get him.

Tight End – Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City Chiefs
Even though Tony Gonzalez saved a man’s life this offseason, the fantasy football world is already starting to forget about him after the first week of the season. But with Damon Huard now the quarterback, Gonzalez should quickly ascend to the top of the tight end pack.

3. Reggie Wayne – With Harrison aging, it’s time for Wayne to bring pain.

5. Braylon Edwards – High risk, high reward in 2008 fantasy football.
6. Marques Colston – Has the makings of a very good career.
7. Larry Fitzgerald – Fitzgerald has as much natural talent as anyone.
8. TJ Houshmandzadeh – Always seems to be underrated.
9. Plaxico Burress – Super Bowl hero should be touchdown threat.
10. Torry Holt – Could definitely be a sleeper if he can remain healthy.

Derek Anderson – While he did very well last season, Derek Anderson has an relatively inexperience receiving corps and a high profile backup.

Carson Palmer – Even though he is very talented, Carson Palmer is on a team that is heading downward and has a sometimes loony lead WR.

Marc Bulger – With Issac Bruce gone and Torry Holt aging, Marc Bulger is no longer the fantasy stud he used to be a few years ago.

Eli Manning – Don’t let a Super Bowl victory blind you to the fact that Eli Manning has been a very average fantasy quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers – While Aaron Rodgers does have good weapons offensively, inexperienced quarterbacks spell fantasy football disappointment.

Jon Kitna – With Mike Martz out of town, Jon Kitna’s numbers will take a big tumble during the 2008 fantasy football season.

Matt Leinart – Not only will Kurt Warner likely see playing time once again, Matt Leinart appears to be more of a partier than a football player.

What Avery brings the Rams is a playmaker at the wide receiver position. With starters Torry Holt and Drew Bennett, the Rams don’t have blazing speed at wide receiver. Avery, on the other hand, is a speedster who can make plays with his legs after catching the ball. He excels at gaining yards after the catch, an area the Rams struggled with in 2007. Avery could potentially fill the void left when Isaac Bruce left for the Sam Francisco 49ers.

However, truth be told, Avery is a bit of a project. At the University of Houston, Avery didn’t play against great competition. He also dropped passes and wasn’t the smoothest route runner while in college. There’s a good chance that he’ll take a couple seasons to get acclimated to the NFL.

Avery isn’t a great fantasy pick in a 2008 fantasy football draft. He’ll be a third receiver at best. That said, Kevin Curtis had good success in a similar role while with the Rams, so there is precedence for Avery to have success. Additionally, Avery could get some touches in the return game, which could up his value.
