Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys signed a three-year contract extension that will pay him approximately $30 million. Owens, who is coming off another very good season, is expected to once again be the team’s best offensive weapon.
Locking up Owens was a no-brainer for owner Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. With Owens on their side, the Cowboys offense will once again be one of the best in the league. Owens at his best is perhaps the must unguardable players in the NFL.
The only question about Owens is whether or not he can keep his head on straight off the field and avoid any on the field meltdowns. Owens is an amazing player but he’s not exactly the poster child for mental stability.
As far as fantasy football is concerned, Owens is a wide receiver any fantasy team would love to have. Last season, Owens had 1,355 yards and 15 touchdowns. Even though he’s 34-years-old, Owens should approach the same numbers once again in 2009. He keeps himself in great shape and will get plenty of opportunities in the Cowboys’ high-octane offense.
