If you have a lot of base stealers on your fantasy baseball team, you can quietly dominate the stolen base category without going after big name players. Here are the top base stealers in 2009 fantasy baseball:
Carl Crawford, Tampa Bay Rays
Amazingly enough, Carl Crawford already has 24 stolen bases in 38 games. All of last season, Crawford had 25 stolen bases in 109 games. Crawford’s career-high in stolen bases is 59.
Chone Figgins, Los Angeles Angels
Through 35 games, Chone Figgins has 17 stolen bases. Last year, Figgins had 34 stolen bases in 116 games. His career-high is 62.
Jacoby Ellsbury, Boston Red Sox
In 2008, Jacoby Ellsbury played his first full season in the Major Leagues and finished with 50 stolen bases. This year, Ellsbury already has 16 stolen bases.
Bobby Abreu, Los Angeles Angels
The 35-year-old Bobby Abreu has turned back the clock. He has 13 stolen bases, which is especially impressive considering he hasn’t had 30 stolen bases in a season since 2005. He’s actually on pace to beat his career-high of 40 stolen bases.
Michael Bourn, Houston Astros
Michael Bourn is one of the fastest players in the game. This year, he’s actually hitting the ball well, which has increased his overall value in fantasy baseball. He has 13 stolen bases and is hitting .298 for the Astros.
