On the season, Bush has 339 rushing yards on 63 attempts. He also has 298 receiving yards on 41 catches. All told Bush has eight touchdowns on the year. While the touchdown level has helped save his fantasy value on the season, his lack of yardage has made him a difficult play each week.

Since the Saints have a lot of options at running back and wide receiver, they don’t have to rush Bush back into action. In fact, a case can be made that they may be better off without him.

In dynasty fantasy football, Bush’s value has to be at a low point. There’s no guarantee that the Saints will bring him back next season and he may find it tough to land on a team that can properly utilize his skillset.

Heading into the 2010 fantasy football season, Reggie Bush will likely be a late round draft pick. That’s a far fall for a guy who used to be a borderline first rounder not that long ago.

QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is already arguably the best fantasy football quarterback in the NFL. Going against the Lions is just gravy.

RB Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
The Raiders will be in Big D. That should translate for a big game for the the Cowboys’ big, bruising running back.

WR Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
The only thing that slows down Calvin Johnson is injuries. If he’s playing, start him with confidence. But watch out, he’s currently listed as questionable.

TE Kevin Boss, New York Giants
Kevin Boss is on fire. Over the last three weeks, he has four touchdowns. Another touchdown on Thanksgiving wouldn’t be much of a shock.

1. Green Bay Packers
The Packers are a very solid defense. Add in the fact that they are going against Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers and you have the makings of a great start.

2. New Orleans Saints
In the fantasy world, the Saints defense might be the best of the best. Their aggressive style puts fantasy points on the board. Against the Panthers, they should cause havoc.

3. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks usually aren’t a very good fantasy start but when they are home against a banged up version of the Lions, they are a safe bet to be productive.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Broncos aren’t the best of opponents to go against but the Steelers are elite enough to make things happen.

5. New England Patriots
At home against the Dolphins should be a juicy matchup for the Patriots in Week 9 of the 2009 fantasy football season.

It doesn’t really matter who the Colts are playing — you have to start Manning if he’s on your team.

2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Like Peyton, you start Drew Brees if you have him on your team. Against the Falcons, he’s a great start.

3. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
Home against the Raiders, the Chargers will have all they can eat in Week 8.

4. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
As the Packers’ offensive line improves throughout the season, expect Rodgers to get better and better.

5. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
As long as Schaub can stay healthy, the Texans remain a very pass-friendly offense.

6. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Ride the hot hand. Tony Romo is playing a lot better as of late and there’s no reason to think that’ll change this coming weekend.

7. Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears
Home against the Browns? That’s a very nice matchup for Culter and the Bears.

8. Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals
While Warner hasn’t looked great this season, he’s at home this week and should produce.

9. Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings
Favre will be in Lambeau Field this week. ‘Nuff said.

10. David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Titans have a battered secondary. Look for Garrard to take advantage of that fact.

If you want to look at this grouping of quarterbacks in tiers, there are definitely some distinctive groups. Tier 1 is 1-2. Tier 2 is 3-7. Tier 3 is 8-15. Tier 4 is 17-21. The rest of the quarterbacks will be hit or miss.

As a rookie, Avery caught 53 passes for 674 yards and three touchdowns. For a stretch in the middle of his rookie season, Avery was producing at a very high level. With Torry Holt no longer with the Rams, Avery is expected to be the team’s top wide receiver this year.

This injury really hammers Avery’s value. Even if he’s ready to go in a month, he’ll have missed the entirity of training camp and the exhibition schedule. He may miss up to six weeks, which means that Avery could miss the first few regular season contests.

Avery is still worth a pick in the middle of a redraft league based on his explosiveness and the fact that he’ll see a lot of passes thrown his way, but his standing as a trustworthy player for the 2009 fantasy football season took a serious hit.

In fantasy football, Willie Parker’s value seems to be on the decline. Last year, Parker only had a decent season. He rushed for 791 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games. It was the first time in three seasons that he had less than 1,200 rushing yards. Perhaps most damning is the fact that he had a yards per rush average of 3.8 yards — and that number has declined each season in his career.

If Parker struggles at all, the Steelers will take a look at Rashard Mendenhall. Last year, Mendenhall was drafted in the first round and it’s thought that he’ll eventually become the team’s starting running back. However, his rookie season wasn’t too impressive — 58 rushing yards on 19 carries and a season-ending shoulder injury.

If you pick Parker in fantasy football, be sure to handcuff Mendenhall.

Vick recently said that he was getting close to signing with a team. On Thursday, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick fanned the flames by saying this about Vick:

“Michael is an outstanding player, hasn’t played in a couple of years. But right now, our focus is on our team and our players and trying to get the New England Patriots ready and so that’s really where my attention’s been. But he’s a tremendous athlete. Where exactly he is right now, I don’t know.”

Signing with the Patriots would make a lot of sense for Vick for multiple reasons. First of all, it’s a well respected team with a lot of veteran leaders. Vick could see how Randy Moss jumpstarted his career by going to the Patriots. It would also keep the pressure of producing right away off of him.

However, with Tom Brady in place, Vick would have to abandon the idea of starting at quarterback if he signs with the Patriots. New England, if they sign Vick, would likely use him as a wide receiver, running back and gimmick quarterback.

In terms of fantasy football, Vick wouldn’t be of too much value in the 2009 fantasy season — especially if he signs with the Patriots. He’ll be suspended for the first five games and even when he returns, he’d probably only get about touches per game.

WR Pat White, Miami Dolphins
In the 2009 fantasy football season, Pat White could be a hot name. He was a quarterback in college but most believe he’ll end up as a wide receiver in the NFL. However, other scouts insist he might be able to play QB in the NFL. Whatever the case may be, White could cause havoc with the Dolphins — especially if they use more of their “Wildcat” sets.

WR Brian Robiskie, Cleveland Browns
WR Mohamed Massaquoi, Cleveland Browns
The Browns need wide receivers. In the second round, they drafted a pair of receivers. With Braylon Edwards coming off of a disappointing season and Donte Stallworth in trouble with the law, Robiski and Massaquoi should provide good depth.

RB LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles
Brian Westbrook now has some legit competition in Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy has been rated highly for most of the last year and the Eagles were able to get him in the second round. If you draft Westbrook, make sure to handcuff McCoy.

TE Richard Quinn, Denver Broncos
Although Richard Quinn is mostly a blocking tight end, he could get some action around the goal line. Head coach Josh McDaniels is from New England, where they like to roster multiple tight ends.

QB Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Stafford went first overall and has good long-term potential. For a redraft league, he doesn’t have much upside.

QB Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
There’s a good chance that Sanchez gets plenty of action this season. If there’s a rookie quarterback to gamble on in a redraft fantasy football league, it’s Sanchez.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bay, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders surprised the experts by picking Heyward-Bay seventh overall. Although he has great speed, it’s difficult to imagine him having an immediate impact in Oakland.

WR Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers
For the 49ers, getting Crabtree was a much needed move. For Crabtree, his fantasy football value is somewhat shaky considering San Francisco’s anemic offensive unit.

RB Knowshown Moreno, Denver Broncos
This is a good fit for both parties. The Broncos needed a running back and were able to get the best in the draft. And Moreno should be happy to be going to a running back friendly team.
