The Cleveland Cavaliers received more bad injury news when Zydrunas Ilgauskas was diagnosed with a strained back. The Cavs, who have been hurt by injuries all season, will be without Ilgauskas for an undefined amount of time.
Luckily, the injury doesn’t appear to be too serious. It appears that the strained back may be the result of fatigue and not a major injury. If that is the case, Ilgauskas could be able to return within the week. If it turns out to be something more than fatigue, Ilgauskas will likely be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.
This comes at a bad time for Ilgauskas fantasy owners because the big Lithuanian has been having a good fantasy season. He’s not spectacular but he’s consistent and effective.
With Ilgauskas on the bench, expect Anderson Varejao to get the start. Varejao, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith will likely see more minutes until Ilgauskas is able to return.
