The Calgary Flames stunned fans and analysts by making some big deals
today before the 2009 NHL Trade Deadline which added Olli Jokinen (Phoenix Coyotes) and Jordan Leopold (Colorado Avalanche) to their roster. They also sent the very speedy Matthew Lombardi to the Coyotes and I’m sad to see him go.
There were a couple deals that left people scratching their heads. Patrick O’Sullivan was actually traded TWICE while the Tampa Bay Lightning sent injured players, including goaltender Olaf Kolzig, to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Here’s a list of the trades today:
- Flames Send LeLande to Blue Jackets
- San Jose Trade Kyle McLaren to Philadelphia
- Tampa Sends Kolzig, Heward and Rogers to Toronto
- O’Sullivan Traded Twice in Deal Involving Williams, Cole and Kotalik
- Last Minute Deal: Anaheim Trades Pahlsson, Moen and Huskins
- Bouwmeester Stays With Florida Panthers
- Bolts Sends Eminger to Panthers for Welch and 3rd Round Draft Pick
- Leafs Send Moore to Buffalo for 2nd Round Draft Pick
- NY Rangers Acquire Morris from Coyotes
- Anaheim Acquires Christensen, Send O’Dell to Atlanta
- New York Rangers Acquire Nik Antropov
- Leafs Pick Up Gerber, Put Toskala on IR List
- Flyers Trade Upshall to Coyotes for Carcillo
- Islanders Trade Guerin to the Penguins

- Veteran Forward Mark Recchi Joins Bruins
- Montador to Anaheim, Nokalainen to Boston
