Calgary Flames Sign Left Wing Andre Roy

andre royAndre Roy is moving from the Tampa Bay Lightning to join their 2003-2004 Stanley Cup rivals, the Calgary Flames

”Andre is a player with a Stanley Cup championship (he was on the team when they beat Calgary in 2004), who provides us with a dimension that is still important in the league,” said Flames general manager Darryl Sutter. ”It was our goal to replace that aspect on our team and we felt it was better to do it now than to trade for it as we go into camp.”

Roy tallied four goals and three assists in 63 games with the Bolts last season.  Most importantly, this tough guy racked up 108 minutes worth of penalties.  I hope he fits in well with the Flames.

  1. Andre Roy is a left winger (at least he was last year). He’s no defenceman

I should probably lay off the drugs for a while…

Thanks for the heads up, Greg :)
