Crosby Has Winning Goal at Winter Classic

And the fairytale that is Sidney Crosby’s life continues… Did you guys catch the Winter Classic??? NHL commissioner, Gary Bettman, is calling it a success but I wouldn’t go that far. It was fun – especially watching players like Ty Conklin laughing off the craziness because that’s what it was – crazy. Half the time the snow was so heavy that I could barely see, the sky was grey, there were shadows all over the ice, one spot of the ice kept wearing away, a errant puck went over the glass and into a snow bank and a zamboni broke down because it was full of snow!
Some other problems? The NHL made it mandatory for the teams to switch sides halfway through the third period and it was a bitch! Then, they had to do it again halfway through the overtime period. What a nightmare. The puck was bouncing all over the place (when it wasn’t hidden by snow on the ice) and the path leading to the net wasn’t zambonied prior to the shootout.
I loved it, though. It was one of those things in life where you either had fun and stopped sweating the small stuff or you’d get really stressed out. With an estimated 72,000 people in attendance, the players gave us a real show. Jason Pominville told CBC Sports the players were constantly wiping their visors with towels to help their vision.

Jeane,
I went to the Winter Classic, I was upset that NBC wouldn’t let Peters fight Laraque.
Happy New Year…..Iron Mike
Happy New Year to you, Mike. Was the holiday season as crazy/busy for you as it was for me?!?!?
