Dallas Stars Sign Sean Avery to 4-Year Deal

Why? Okay, seriously, I know he’s got some big fans out there – I’m just not one of them. I don’t like hockey players who skate on *barely* the right side of what is legal. I like it when the goalie is beat by a shot and not by some guy poking at his mask. It’s lame and I can appreciate how some people believe it’s just good hockey but I don’t see it that way. I give him credit for being creative, for sure, but I can think of a lot of players who can get the job done without resorting to gimmicks and bad mouthing. Talk trash but know where to draw the line. There comes a time with a clear loss of respect occurs and he just doesn’t seem to care.
Anyway, the Dallas Stars have picked up Avery and have offered him $15.5 million for four years. I think that’s reasonable.

Sean Avery has more personality than the rest of the league combined. He is full of fun, humor, and mischif. He always invents new ways to tease opponents, without giving concussions and breaking bones. He makes people laugh. But the boring morons would rather see players plastered over boards – spines broken. Sorry, Sean – the Great does not do that. He is just a great player and a tease – what more do you want? Mediocrity?
