Did Calgary Flames Get H1N1 Shot Priority?

I live in Calgary and, like many places in the world, the locals are scrambling to get vaccinated against the H1N1 virus (a.k.a. swine flu). The Canadian government isn’t charging residents for the shot but each province has to manage how they get rolled out.

Unfortunately, things have been chaotic and disorganized so some people have had to wait as much as 7 hours while others have even been turned away. Needless to say, Alberta has some pretty frustrated residents and some have freaked out over reports that the Calgary Flames and their families were vaccinated against the virus in a private clinic.
I personally agree with the decision to vaccinate them for a few reasons but the most important is that they do fall within the higher risk age group, they travel and they have small children who could catch something from them and then give it to their classmates here in Calgary. I know it seems ridiculous to some people but so does the fact that local healthcare workers, like nurses, actually turned down the shot.
With half of the Edmonton Oilers out with the virus last week, I think this makes sense. What do you think?

The calgary flames are a bunch of fu(&!ng selfish b@$tards… they might as well have kicked preggo women in the gut and thrown babies into the street in their mad panic to scoop up their H1N1 Vaccine before they ran out…
Even if it was allowed and you were told to get it, if you are a healthy low risk person you should have the balls to say, let the people who NEED it get it first.

Fu(% the flames and their whole organization… all last week they were saying they were goign to run low… and how even Firefighters and Cops etc.. couldn’t jump the line and get it and had to wait in line… so what do the a$$h0le flames do?? tell everyone to go fu(& themselves and cut some deal and kick everyone aside.
Here’s hoping the flames get that neurological disease from the vaccine and preferrably die…

If the people in charge didn’t why would you expect hockey players to have a crystal ball?
Exactly. I don’t think the Flames deliberately screwed people out of shots. Who could have known how crappy the Alberta government clinics would be operated?
I do not like the Calgary Flames but I think what they did probably did more to stop the spread than all of the hand washing everybody else is doing. They travel all over North America and come home to their families, possibly sick and their families come into contact with the rest of us. I don’t think they did anything others wouldn’t have if they thought about it. While I am not a fan, I applaud their decision and I believe it was already in motion before the shortage was discovered. If you want to put the blame somewhere put it on the people who made bad decisions about how to administer it to the populace.
Who cares? The swine flu is barely more potent than the normal flu. All of you suckers lining up for the shot are stupid… You are just feeding the US governments fear mongering and giving the drug companies a lot of money in the process. @dieflames, stop being a jackass… It’s funny how you hope the players get the neurological disease from the vaccine, yet you are pissed that the pregnant women and babies get pushed back in the line..
