Wow… well that game sucked. I cannot believe what I witnessed last night. The first period was great – it was closely battled and really could have been anyone’s game. The last two periods basically consisted of the Pittsburgh Penguins being totally bitch slapped by the Detroit Red Wings. It was almost disgusting.
Wings goaltender, Chris Osgood, racked up his 12th career postseason shutout and Mikael Samuelsson, a relative sleeper if I’m being honest, rocked netminder Marc-André Fleury’s world with not one, but two unassisted goals (13:01 in 2nd and 02:16 in 3rd). The bloodbath was rounded out by goals from Dan Cleary (SHG, 17:18 in 3rd) and Henrik Zetterberg (PPG, 19:47 in 3rd)
Honestly, Fleury seemed a bit off all night. Poor guy looked all pumped up as he stood waiting for the game to start and then, because he was in such a rush, he took a nosedive as soon as his skate hit the ice. So embarrassing. Could he have been just so rattled that he never fully recovered? Watch it here:
In all fairness, Fleury was tested far more than Osgood was. The Wings outshot the Pens 36-19. If Pittsburgh is going to stand a chance, they are going to have to step up their game by a lot…
