The salary cap strikes again! The Philadelphia Flyers had to find a way to
afford Daniel Briere’s salary so they were forced to put Glen Metropolit and Ossi Vaananen on waivers. Briere has missed the last 36 games due to a groin injury. The salary cap is currently set at $56.7 million (USD).
They didn’t sit waiting for long since the Montreal Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks wasted no time picking them up (Metropolit to Montreal and Vaananen to Vancouver).
I hope Briere can get back in the lineup soon. It’s rough to give up two decent players to pay for the salary of a player who’s on the bench.
