Geez, I was just thinking the other day that it had been far too long since a member of the Philadelphia Flyers was suspended for dirty playing. Alas, the hockey gods must have read my mind! Scott Hartnell has been suspended for two games for his hit on Boston Bruins player, Andrew Alberts. Here’s the video:
Okay, I know some of you have said that it’s unfair to hold the Flyers responsible for the actions of their individual players but COME ON! How many of these is it going to take? I mean, Hartnell checked Alberts IN THE HEAD!
NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell said even though it appeared Hartnell was attempting to let up on the check, Alberts was in a "vulnerable position."
"However, at the point of contact, he did deliver a blow to the head of Mr. Alberts that resulted in an injury," Campbell said in a statement announcing the suspension.
Hartnell tried to explain his actions after the game.
"I did not try to hurt him," Hartnell said. "There was no intent at all. I am not that type of player. If you look at all the games this year and past years, I finish my checks every time I have an opportunity."
Well, I guess Hartnell is in good company with the other Flyers who "didn’t mean it" – Steve Downie, Jesse Boulerice and Randy Jones.

J,
How would you like this coach.
Peace…Iron Mike
