Guy Lafleur is an Enabler

Look – before anyone jumps down my throat, I want to say that I am a parent and that is what made me so mad about this story. Hockey mega legend, Guy Lafleur, has a 22-year-old son who has problems, okay? Is there any other way to say it?
His son, Mark Lafleur, is facing several charges “including sexual assault and uttering death threats against a 17-year old girl. He’s also been charged with kidnapping and possession of drugs, including crack cocaine.”
“He was sent to live in a halfway house after he was kicked out of a rehabilitation program for having pornographic magazines and a small knife in his room.”
What’s a father to do? Uhhh, tell his son to shape up and enjoy the privileges he has in life and leave underage girls alone. Maybe he could use some of his power, money and influence to get his son into a good rehab treatment facility where he could receive some serious mental help. I say this because rape, death threats, kidnapping and drug possession are all serious freaking charges!!!!
What does Guy Lafleur do?
Well, for starters he “has admitted he helped his son Mark dodge a court-ordered curfew on a few occasions.”
Why?
So that his son could stay at various Montreal-area hotels to have privacy with his new 16-year old girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT??????
“The former Montreal Canadiens star told Carol Cohen, a Quebec court judge, that his son could come live with him in his Ile Bizard home if he is released from custody.”
Okay, let’s not forget WHY this guy is in custody. Well, of course, there are all of those flipping charges I named plus, he was arrested in September for breaking bail conditions AND “he was sent to live in a halfway house after he was kicked out of a rehabilitation program for having pornographic magazines and a small knife in his room.”
Yeah, it sounds like this guy needs more freedom for sure….
Lafleur will return to court at a later date to hear the judge’s ruling.

yes, it’s bad, however Mark Lafleur has had ADD and Turettes syndrome since he was a kid. Was kicked out of 15 schools including kindergarden because there were noschools offering the attention he needed and his father did more than enough to get him help (going to another province to put him in a school where his needs were met) Imagine what this did to his self esteem (not forgetting Turettes?) plus the medication mixed with the alcohol and drugs didn’t help. I feel bad for her but she was taking the drugs etc as well. What type of parents does she have? to let her 16 year live with her adult boyfriend who had problems and they knew about it. Anyways, it’s sad for both families involved, but the parents are not to blame. The actions on both parties are…
