Martin Havlat

Right wing, Martin Havlat (Blackhawks), has been placed on the injured reserve for at least a week with a groin injury.  He got hurt during the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

He’s already missed 22 games this season due to a shoulder injury that he suffered during the Blackhawks’ season opener at the Minnesota Wild.  In 12 games this season, he has five goals and six assists.

An ESPN article said the following:

The 26-year-old has never played an entire 82-game NHL schedule during seven seasons with Ottawa and Chicago.

Last season, his first with the Blackhawks, Havlat was limited to 56 games due to ankle, groin and shoulder injuries.

While with the Senators in 2005-06, Havlat played in 18 regular-season games due to shoulder surgery. In the playoffs, however, he had seven goals and six assists in 10 games.

Wow… what else can I say to that?

That’s too bad that he has been plagued with so many injuries throughout his career. Havlat is certainly one of the leagues most talented players. I’ve been watching him since he was 19 and I can’t believe that’s he already 26! Get well soon Havlat!
