Hey, Joe Sakic – I Think Someone Is Trying to Tell You Something…

So, there’s been a lot of talk about the possible retirement of veteran NHL hockey player Joe Sakic. He’s been out of the lineup for some time with a herniated disc and tongues were wagging about whether the 39-year-old Colorado Avalanche captain would just take the opportunity to end his glowing career. Of course, a lot of people were optimistic but after this most recent injury, I’m not sure we should be holding out hope. In fact, it almost seems like the universe is telling Sakic that it’s time to hang up the jersey and appreciate his long incredible run.
What happened? Sakic broke three fingers and suffered tendon damage after he got into a scrap with… a snow blower. Yes, I said snow blower. He had surgery last night to repair the injury but he will miss at least three months as he recovers. Avalanche team doctor, Andy Parker, said “the procedure went well and he’s expected to make a full recovery.”
My first question was, “why the heck was he even operating a snow blower while he’s off the bench due to his back injury?” My second question was, “what the hell happened?” If you’re wondering that too, Sakic was injured when he tried to dislodge some wet snow from about the snow blower blades. The machine was off but the torque from the blades jammed his hand when the snow was cleared.
Yeah… I think he should take this time to just sit back and think about what he wants to do. He totally could come back and be, yet another example of, an older player who proves that age and experience can be worth more than youth and speed. Whatever he picks, it’s gonna be interesting…

Maybe his subconscious is trying to get through to his conscious side. Like, “you’ve had a good career. Take some time for yourself now.”
