Hockey Night in Canada Losing Theme Song?

This cannot be true!  It’s being reported that Hockey Night in Canada hasn’t renewed its’ rights to use the signature theme song.  Honestly, I would be seriously crushed if that happened.  Every man, woman, child and pet knows that it’s hockey time when they hear that song.  Heck, it’s been my ring tone for three years!

How did this sad little rumor come to light?  The Toronto agency that represents the composer of the theme says that the CBC has declined to enter into a new licensing agreement for the song for the next NHL season.

CBC please renew whatever contract you had.  This has been dubbed Canada’s second national anthem – we can’t lose it!!!
