Kidz-Korner

Eleven year old Joshua will be giving his predictions right through to the Stanley Cup Finals.  I think it’s great to have a young voice (and aspiring hockey player) having a say.  Be nice about typos – he’s a kid :)

Eastern

Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bruins:
I think that the Canadiens will win in 5 games, because their offense, including Alexi Kovalev, Tomas Plekanec and Saku Koivu is so strong. Corey Price is impeccable, but the Canadiens might have to worry about Boston players Marc Savard, Patrice Bergeron, and Andrew ference, but Boston’s goaltending has been less than great this season.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Ottawa Senators:
I think that the Pens will win it in 6 games, because of Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Marian Hossa, Sidney Crosby, Gary Roberts, Pascal Dupuis, and Marc-André Fluery.  Just look at that lineup!  On the Sens they have Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, Dany heatley, and Marty Gerber who has been amazing this season but not stellar.  I don’t know what to say about Emery.

Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers:
I think this bad baby will go to game 7 and the Caps will win, because of Alexander Oveshkin, Alexander Semin, Chris Clark, and their two amazing goaltenders Cristolbal Huet and Olaf Kolzig.  On the Flyers side they have Daniel Briere, Simon Gagne, Mike Richards and also have two good goalies Marty Biron and Antero Niittymaki but it won’t be enough.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers:
I think the Devils will win in 6 games, because of the great Martin Brodeur, Zach Parise, Patrick Elias, and Jason Pandolfo – all fantastic players. But New York has Jaromir Jagr, Scott Gomez, Brendan Shanahan, Chris Drury, and Henrik Lundqvist, which are good players also, but haven’t been playing like the Devils.

Western

Detroit Red Wings vs Nashville predators:
I think the Red Wings will win it in 5 or 6 games, because they are a close team, they know where their team is every game….. but they are still a dirty team (even if they don’t fight). The Nashville Predators are a really good team but they haven’t been proving it.

San Jose Sharks vs Calgary Flames:
I really don’t know who will win this series, because they are equally matched. However, there is a big difference between the goaltenders – Evgeni Nabokov has 2.14% GAA, 46 wins, and 6 shutouts, while Miikka Kiprusoff has 2.69% GAA, 39 wins, and 2 shutouts.  That could really mean the difference but I think Kip has more playoff experience.

Minnesota Wild vs Colorado Avalanche:
I think the Wild will win it in 7 games.  This is a very good match up! Joe Sakic vs Marian Gaborik, Ryan Smyth vs Pavol Demitra, Peter Stastny vs Todd Fedoruk.  Despite of the great match up, I think the Wild will come up victorious.  Call it a hunch.

Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars
I think the Ducks will win in 7 games, because the Ducks have thousands (okay, not really, lol) of good players like Teemu Selanne, Scott Neidermayer, Rob Neidermayer, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and J.S Giguere. The Stars only have Mike Modano, Mike Ribeiro, Brendan Morrow, and Steve Ott – good players but not as good as the Ducks.

See you at the semifinals!
