According to ESPN, the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed a two-year entry level deal with Niagara University right wing Kyle Rogers.
Rogers, a 23-year-old native of Erie, Pa., set career highs with 10 goals, 13 assists, 23 points and 40 minutes in 34 games this season for the Purple Eagles, who were eliminated by Michigan in the NCAA tournament Friday.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Rogers had 18 goals and 22 assists in 97 games over three seasons at Niagara. Rogers will be assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL for the rest of the season.
“Kyle has tremendous size, very good speed and is a very effective, physical player,” Maple Leafs vice president and general manager Cliff Fletcher said.
