Lecavalier Close to Lifetime Deal with Tampa?

NHL PLAYER AWARDSWow… The Tampa Bay Lightning appear to be close to locking up star player, Vincent Lecavalier, for the rest of his career.  I’ve read reports that Vinny could be inking a major deal with the hockey club after July 1st.

Currently, he’s about the enter the final season of a four-year contract that was worth $27.5 million.

I think it’s a smart move for the Bolts since he’s helped them win a Stanley Cup in 2004, he won the Rocket Richard Trophy (most goals scored) during the 2006-2007 season and holds franchise records in points (602), goals (273) and games played (710).  He notched 40 goals and 92 points in 81 games last season.

He must really love that team because I would want to get the hell outta Tampa Bay.  Then again, who knows how things will go now that head coach John Tortorella has been shown the door.  Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that Tampa is expected to select Steven Stamkos at the NHL Entry Draft later today.

Hmmm… I talked myself out of hating Tampa next season.  Way to go, Vinny, you are already proving that you need a raise…

Wow. Insanity. But Tampa must be happy that Vinny’s showing so much loyalty to them. Wow.

I know. I hope it works out for the team and for Vin.
