Marco Sturm Leaves Ice After Puck to the Face

Having Marco Sturm leave the ice after getting in the face, near his eye, with the puck is not something the Boston Bruins wanted to see, I’m sure.  He’s their second-leading scorer and, after that incident in the first period, he never returned.  The Bruins has a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night.

After the game, Boston coach Claude Julien said Sturm’s eye was at first completely swollen shut, but shortly after was able to open it. Julien said he didn’t believe Sturm would miss the Bruins’ next game at Atlanta on Wednesday night.

"We didn’t want to take a chance at putting him out there," Julien said.

Sturm has nine goals and 20 points.  I hope they allow him to heal enough without pressure to come back before he’s ready – I think he’s earned that much.
