MVP: The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives

I may be slow but I only saw a preview of CBC’s new show, MVP: The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives tonight during the Calgary Flames at the Vancouver Canucks game and I was stunned. WHAT THE PUCK IS THIS SHIZ?!?!? I’m sorry but this is just not cool to me and I hope Canada turns their back on it. It’s so HBO and Canada is so not HBO. Plus, it’s like sacrilege ESPECIALLY coming from the CBC – the home of Hockey Night in Canada!!!! Canadians love hockey and like 70% of us (or something) are hockey families – no one wants to think that the awesome hockey wife or hockey mom is a sex-crazed, two-timing tramp! Heck, I couldn’t even handle it when I found out that Miikka Kiprusoff (Flames goaltender) smokes! No athlete should smoke, particularly my favorite athlete but I digress…
Here is a quote from a cast member:
"It’s the secret lives of hockey wives," said Kristin Booth, who plays a 25-year-old virgin preschool teacher pursued by a star player. "It’s really interesting for the CBC to be airing a show like this, because it’s not traditional CBC fare. There’s a lot of sex, a lot of scandal, a lot of drugs. It’s pretty racy. The CBC, I’ve got to commend them on their bravery, their willingness to try something new."
Uh huh… I don’t like it. I’m totally going to watch it once so I can say I gave it a chance but I really don’t like this – at all.
Anyone out there actually excited for this show???

Watched the whole pilot season and loved it. Wish CBC would let us know if they cancelled it or if they are renewing. I am not the typical TV person who is racing home to see Grey’s or Desprate Housewives to be honest I have only seen one episode of each . But I raced home for this and will continue to do so for a while yet. So go CBC i used to only turn you on for hockey night in canada the olympics or Air Farce which they are now tossing:(. Cudos to you for giving me something else to watch in its place.
…..Apparently I can’t read . hat just sucks I hope they will reconsider but if not i guess i will be turning off CBC once again till next years good hockey matches and the 2010 olympics…that is if they don’t lose that to another station.
I loved the show, watched every episode. I hope they have another season. Thanks CBC, when all the other shows were not on due to the writers strike – I was able to watch MVP and sure was great to see how many talented Canadian actors were in it….
this show is rediculous.. i played hockey my whole life and half the junk on this show has nothing to do with hockey or hockey wives….. this show is an embarrasment to the cbc. if they cant come up with anything but drugs and sex then they better hire to new writers. unfortunatley people want to wtch this depressing drabble and say that its good writing. Try writing something wholesome and still make it entertaining.. thats tuff….. its a terrible show
