It looks better, and they have come a hell of a long way since NHL 07, which was nowhere near as good as 2k7 in my opinion. 09 also has the "Be a pro" mode which is awesome and worth buy 09 just for that. I haven't played 2k9 yet, but I thought that 2k8 wasn't as good as 2k7 and the 2k franchise was the better franchise a few years ago, but haven't really evolved enough for me on xbox 360 anyways, wii is a different story it's probably a lot of fun.
