NHL LIVEWIRE: Listen Now

I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t listened to this before but I found it really interesting this morning.  It’s a call-in radio show and one caller asked what the NHL thinks about having the games return to ESPN.  Of course, they talked about a bunch of other things so check it out:

    Hi Guys

You guys are doing a great job. As for anyone negatively commenting about Don Cherry, he has done a lot of good for hockey in North America, not only for the professionals but for junior hockey as well.
As far as visor comments, he has always for the record preached about injury towards players with respect to the heavy bulky materials used in todays gear. Obviously fans like Monica have not tuned in to hear him talk about that.
And yes also he has been tough on European players initially about their stick work including some who would try to draw a penalty and wail away like some soccer players do. Do you remember Inge Hammarstrom of the Toronto Maple Leafs whose then owner Harold Ballard himself commented that Hammarstrom could go into the corners with eggs in his pocket and not have them break.

Don knows what he is talking about, has class, and stands up with integrity when most don’t even know what’s going on. He delivers this in a very sincere and sometimes passionate fashion through the venue of Hockey. All the best!

when is Brian Burke going to pull the trigger, with and for what players?
