After 14 seasons in the NHL, goaltender Olaf Kolzig is hanging up his skates. He’s such a well-loved netminder that it’s sad to see him go but it has also been sad to see him on teams that didn’t allow him to really show his full potential for most of his career. ![]()
He leaves behind an impressive set of statistics:
- He is ranked 21st in the NHL with 303 career wins
- Posted 35 shutouts in 719 games
- Leaves with a 2.71 GAA and a .906 save %
The NHLPA announced Kolzig’s retirement. He was a free agent.
In honor of Olie’s career, I thought it was a perfect time for a montage. I know there are a lot of good ones out there so I just picked one. It doesn’t include any highlights from his time in Toronto but were there really many of those anyway?
