It almost looked, for a while, like the Carolina Hurricanes were going to shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins. Canes centre, Brandon Sutter, got his first career goal in the first period and the team held the Pens at bay until well into the third when, finally, captain Sidney Crosby scored a power play goal. It just got worse from there for Carolina with Ruslan Fedotenko scoring for Pittsburgh just over 30 seconds later. Here’s the scoring summary:
- CAR: Sutter, B. (13:07 in 1st)
- PIT: Crosby, S. (PPG, 08:15 in 3rd), Fedotenko, R. (08:47 in 3rd), Talbot, M. (11:51 in 3rd), Malkin, E. (19:09 in 3rd)
