Pittsburgh Penguins rookie forward Tyler Kennedy will be out of the lineup indefinitely with mononucleosis and will miss Saturday’s NHL YoungStars game in Atlanta.
This is the second Pens player to be knocked out of play (and the All-Star weekend) this past week. Sidney Crosby the leading vote-getter in the All-Star balloting, will not be playing for six to eight weeks due to a high ankle sprain.
Kennedy has missed the Penguins’ last two games because of the illness. He has eight goals and four assists in 31 games and leads NHL rookies with four game-winning goals.
Things kinda suck for the Pens right now (not to say that the team sucks but it still isn’t great when the lineup is missing players) with forward Gary Roberts (broken leg), goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (high ankle sprain) and defenseman Mark Eaton (knee) on the IR list.
