Ray Emery – Where’s He Going?

One of the most talked about hockey players this season was goaltender, Ray Emery, and, unfortunately, it was usually for all the wrong reasons. The Ottawa Senators were swept (SWEPT!) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of this season’s Stanley Cup Playoffs and almost everyone is blaming the “Razor.” I don’t know if that’s fair but I will concede that he was a distraction.
What’s going to happen to Emery now? Sens GM, Bryan Murray, wants to trade him but they could also buy him out. Whatever happens, I’m wondering who is going to pick him up. The talent is there, for sure, but I think all that attention went to Emery’s head and whatever “habits” he has picked up as a result could be pretty complicated to get under control. I really hope he gets it together because it would be a huge waste if he threw his career away.
If you want to hear more about Ray’s life, I heard a great interview with him on an Ottawa-based radio show called “La Nostra Voce ” on Chin Radio 97.9 FM on Thursdays at 11:20 am. It’s hosted by Giovanni, who was kind enough to provide me with this photo of him and Emery. To hear the interview, click here!

Recalling “Ray” from his Dunnville Ontario days. It’s hard to forget just how ordinary he was at that time.Lucky breaks, being at the right place at the right time, can send a player to heights they never imagined possible. To be where he was,and where he is now(with tons 0f baggage) It’s hard to believe just how fast you can get full of yourself and fail.Cayuga is disappointed Ray.
