Roy’s Son Charged with Assault Over Brawl

rempartsIt took a while but charges have been brought against the young goaltender son of hockey legend, Patrick Roy.  It all stems from that brawl that took place in March of 2008 during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff game.

Quebec Remparts goalie, Jonathan Roy, 19, is facing one count of assault against Chicoutimi Sagueneens netminder Bobby Nadeau. The melee became a YouTube sensation after Roy skated from one end of the ice to the other to pummel Nadeau in the face (he didn’t fight back).  Patrick Roy is the GM and was behind the bench at the time but claims he had nothing to do with it.

If found guilty as charged, Roy could face a maximum $2,000 fine and up to six months in prison.  He returns to court on Sept. 16, 2008.
