Senior Hockey Player Dies After 3 Weeks in Coma

Don Sanderson, a 21-year-old defenceman for the Whitby Dunlops (OHL), has died after being in a coma for almost three weeks following an on-ice fight.

He hit his unprotected head (his helmet came off during the fight) on the ice surface on December 12, 2008 and passed away this morning in the Hamilton General Hospital.

What a tragedy.  My heart goes out to his family.
