Calgary Flames Hold on to Perfect Record

My Calgary Flames are #1 in the league right now and are off to a perfect start to the 2009-2010 season.  Yes, I realize it’s still very early but this is historic.  According to TSN, “the only other time the Flames won four straight games to start a season was when they captured their first-ever Pacific Division title back in 1993-94.”

Are There Too Many Sutters in Calgary?

I know that some people might disagree with me but I really liked Daryl Sutter as the head coach for the Calgary Flames and I was pretty disappointed when he stepped down (especially when Jim Playfair stepped up as his replacement).
I was encouraged with Mike Keenan was brought out since, after their abysmal season with Playfair, I thought Iron Mike’s style might whip the boys into shape.  From the outside, it looks like Keenan made Miikka Kiprusoff stressed, Dion Phaneuf weak and the locker room intense.  I like the Flames’ reputation as a hard-working, aggressive team but they just seemed …read more

Calgary Flames Acquire Dawes, Seabrook

The Calgary Flames have been busy over the past few days.  They have accepted defenceman Keith Seabrook from the Washington Capitals (the Caps will cash in on this at a later date) and I think it makes a lot of sense since he has been playing with the Calgary Hitmen for the past two seasons.

In another move to add depth to the lineup, the Flames have claimed Nigel Dawes off waivers who had filed for salary arbitration with the Phoenix Coyotes.  The restricted free agent will have his case heard next Wednesday unless Calgary signs him by then.  This is …read more
