Briere Day-to-Day With Groin Injury

Daniel Briere has been playing through a groin injury but, after tweaking it during Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals, the Philadelphia Flyers forward will be sitting out for a while.

He’s being listed as being day-to-day but I’m sure the Flyers are a little anxious considering the fact that he missed a whopping 53 games last season due to groin and abdominal injuries.  Hopefully, this will heal quickly but he really should have sat out as soon as he started feeling the twinges.  I know you’ve got to be tough as a player but after missing so many games …read more

NHL Players Having Surgery in Off-Season

It seems that every day, there are more announcements about NHL players who will be going under the knife during the off-season.

Flyers Give Up Metropolit and Vaananen For Briere’s Salary

Flyers Give Up Metropolit and Vaananen For Briere’s Salary

The salary cap strikes again!  The Philadelphia Flyers had to find a way to afford Daniel Briere’s salary so they were forced to put Glen Metropolit and Ossi Vaananen on waivers.  Briere has missed the last 36 games due to a groin injury.  The salary cap is currently set at $56.7 million (USD).
They didn’t sit waiting for long since the Montreal Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks wasted no time picking them up (Metropolit to Montreal and Vaananen to Vancouver).
I hope Briere can get back in the lineup soon.  It’s rough to give up two decent players to pay …read more

Nerve Entrapment Keeps Briere Out 4 Weeks

Nerve Entrapment Keeps Briere Out 4 Weeks

The Philadelphia Flyers are going to have to continue on without Daniel Briere for at least another four weeks after he had surgery this week to repair damage and a nerve entrapment in his groin/stomach area.  I really hope he’s on the mend and can put this injury behind him in the near future.
