This is not the news the Atlanta Thrashers were hoping for. Star player, Ilya Kovalchuk, has been diagnosed with a broken foot and is expected to be out of the lineup for 3-5 weeks. It’s still so early in the season so hopefully he’ll heal nicely and be back with the team for most of December.

Thrashers GM, Don Waddell, said: “injuries are a part of the game.
Kovy was off to a good start this season and had already racked up 10 points (nine goals, one assist) in eight games so I’m sure his absence will be felt. The team is 4-3-1 and are currently in the #2 spot in the Southeast Division and 10th overall in the Eastern Conference.

He had a little problem yesterday and I didn’t practice him. He said he was OK to go today and obviously he wasn’t, but I’ve got to give him credit for trying."

I hope Kovy is alright and can rejoin his team soon. You really don’t want to be without your leader at this point in the season.
