Finally! A little passion from the Ottawa Senators! Apparently, during this morning’s practice, a little scrap broke out between forwards Jason Spezza and Chris Neil. I don’t know exactly what brought it on but reports are saying that Neil dealt a two-handed slash to the back of Spezza’s legs and Spezza turned around and give it right back to him. Teammates jumped in, however, when Neil dropped his gloves.
“I don’t know what happened,” Spezza said. “Sometimes teammates get into it, it’s no big deal. As soon as he dropped the gloves it was time to get out of there though”

People who have been crying over Jason Spezza not making it onto Team Canada’s Olympic roster can dry their tears. The Ottawa Senators centre has been invited after all.
This is, of course, only after Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf suffered on off-season injury and needed to be replaced. Hockey Canada made the announcement yesterday.

"Our players competed like heck," said Wilson. "I wanted at the end to give our guys a chance to win, they tried so hard. The guy is using a stick that’s not only illegal but dangerous. I had an opportunity to call it, so I did… Unfortunately, our power play stunk so what are …read more

Jason Spezza has signed a deal with Reebok Hockey and I have to say that I’m pretty happy for him. With the recession, these types of deals are not happening as often (I was stunned this week when GM dropped Tiger Woods after 9 years because of their own financial woes).
He’s going to be sporting the goods (I’m sure he’ll be wearing the new 9k Pump Skate), of course, but he will also be an active participant in how the company designs products in the future. That’s pretty exciting!
He’s come a long way from his early years. Here’s …read more
