Charles Barkley on Roenick’s Retirement

Former NBA star, Charles Barkley, had some encouraging words for his friend, Jeremy Roenick, who announced his retirement earlier this week. Barkley knows how it feels to have to leave the game you love when your body says it’s time to quit.
It’s great because in this little video (which appears to have been filmed on a private plane?), Barkley congratulates Roenick on this rite of passage and welcomed him into the group of retirees. Sharks’ Roenick to Announce Retirement

Jeremy Roenick is expected to announce his retirement tomorrow and I’m both sad and happy about it. Of course, anytime a great player like Roenick hangs up his skates it’s a little sad but it’s hard to feel sorry for a guy who has had a great career that spanned over 20 seasons.
Drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1988, he joined the San Jose Sharks as a free agent in 2007. The 39-year-old is a two-time 50 goal scorer, he’s 36th on the all-time goals list (513), 48th on the all-time assist list (703) and for tied 39th …read more
