I was on NHL.com and I spotted the video for the best plays from last week. I don’t want to sound like a broken record but things have really been intense with the playoffs starting next week and people are just putting in the extra effort. The goaltenders, in particular, are just pulling out all the stops and standing on their heads. It is really amazing and makes me love this sport that much more.

Watch these incredible plays. My favorite highlight was from the St. Louis Blues @ Chicago Blackhawks game when Toews (CHI) tries to score, Mason (STL) makes the save, Tkachuk (STL) takes the puck and skates to the other net and is rejected by Khabibulin (CHI).

NHL Best of the Week – March 31, 2009

The NHL has put out the “Best of the Week” highlights for last week and, again, you can see that some teams are really pushing up their efforts in order to secure a spot in the playoffs. One of my favorite goals was by Alex Tanguay (Montreal Canadiens) against the Atlanta Thrashers but then there were incredible shots by Ales Hemsky (Edmonton Oilers), TJ Oshie (St. Louis Blues) and the Sedin Sisters (Vancouver Canucks).

Honestly, with everyone playing the way they have been lately, it’s not only going to be tough to predict a playoff winner, it’s also going to be hard to pick which games I watch. As much as I hate the admit it, the Canucks have been pretty exciting.

Ovechkin Scores Crazy Goal Against Habs

Did you see the goal that Alexander Ovechkin (Washington Capitals) scored against the visiting Montreal Canadiens? Habs goalie, Carey Price, didn’t stand a chance. Ovechkin took advantage of a bad change by Montreal, picked up the puck and put it right in the back of the net. Incredible!

NHL Goals of the Week: December 25, 2008

The NHL goals of the week kick off with a breakaway goal from center ice when Kyle Turris (Phoenix Coyotes) beats goalie Dan Ellis (Nashville Predators) and end with that crazy goal by Carolina Hurricanes defenceman, Joe Corvo, who gets knocked down only to get up and weave his way all the way to the net where he slips the puck right past Tomas Vokoun (Florida Panthers).
