Goaltender, Pascal Leclaire, will need surgery to fix his fractured cheekbone after being struck in the face by a pick during the team’s win over the Washington Capitals last night. It was such a weird bounce (it hit the glass behind Ottawa’s bench and then hit him in the face) so it pretty much sucks.
He’ll be out of the lineup for about four weeks. No team wants to lose their starting goalie for a month so I’m sure they have high hopes for Brian Elliot who will be replacing him. Mike Brodeur has been brought up from the AHL to …read more
Ottawa Senators Hopeful About Leclaire

Goaltender Pascal Leclaire was acquired at the trade deadline last season but, after having ankle surgery, he wasn’t able to play. He has dressed in this year’s pre-season games and the Ottawa Senators are hoping that this is the answer to their netminder woes.
They had it good with Ray Emery until he went bat-shit crazy. Of course, Leclaire is taking the high road when it comes to the gossip about his predecessors. “I wasn’t here and I don’t really care about what happened before,” stated Leclaire. “They’ve had some real quality goalies here. Sometimes it’s easy to blame goalie. You …read more
Leclaire Goes to Ottawa, Vermette Sent to Columbus
The Ottawa Senators have acquired goaltender, Pascal Leclaire, from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for left wing, Antoine Vermette.
I think this could be good for the Sens. Despite the fact that 26-year-old Leclaire has had some ankle problems this season (which caused his GAA and sv % to tank), he is a good goalie and could be just what Ottawa needs at this point.
Vermette, also 26 years old, should be a great addition to Columbus’ offensive lineup. He’s great on the face-off (58.4% this season) and he’s fast.
Columbus Without Leclaire for 10-12 Weeks

The Columbus Blue Jackets are going to have to go on without goaltender, Pascal Leclaire for at least 10-12 weeks since he needs to have ankle surgery (it’s currently scheduled for Friday).
The netminder has only appeared in 12 games so far this season and has posted a paltry 4-6-1 record with a 3.83 goals-against average and .867 save percentage.
Hopefully, the surgery will help bring Leclaire back to the playing level that we know he’s capable of.
