Coyotes Will Begin Giving Away Tickets

Coyotes Will Begin Giving Away Tickets

The Phoenix Coyotes are so desperate to fill seats (despite the fact that the home opener sold out) that they are giving away free tickets but there’s a catch – they have to win certain games.  The first of these singled-out contests (there are five in total) is the game against the Los Angeles Kings on October 24, 2009.
The promotion, which has been dubbed “join the pack,” is meant to create a more loyal fanbase and it could work.  When you’re facing bankruptcy and being sold/moved to another city, you’ve got to try everything.

Calgary Flames Acquire Dawes, Seabrook

The Calgary Flames have been busy over the past few days.  They have accepted defenceman Keith Seabrook from the Washington Capitals (the Caps will cash in on this at a later date) and I think it makes a lot of sense since he has been playing with the Calgary Hitmen for the past two seasons.

There’s just one catch – Balsillie would want to move the team to southern Ontario.  I don’t like the idea but Prime Minister Stephen Harper decided to weigh in on the matter: "I’d love another …read more

Coyotes Lose Jokinen to Shoulder Injury

Olli Jokinen had not missed any of the last 397 games but, unfortunately, the Phoenix Coyotes center will have to sit out at least two weeks due to a shoulder injury.  His on-ice presence will definitely be missed since he is their second highest goal-scorer.
He was hurt when he was checked into the boards by defenseman Marc Methot (Columbus Blue Jackets) during the first period of the Coyote’s 3-2 win on Wednesday.
Coach, Wayne Gretzky, tried to keep things in perspective and put a positive spin on the situation: “We’re definitely going to miss what he brings to …read more
