Quebec City Announces Bid for New Arena

In an effort to bring the Quebec Nordiques back, Quebec City has announced plans to build a $400 million arena. It’s been more than a decade since the team left so I’m sure they realize that they would have to come up with a more modern home for an NHL team.
The mayor said that the city is also hoping to host an Olympic Games but realizes that it is impossible without a new arena and hopes to see it built from 2010 to 2012.

Depending on how long you’ve been a hockey fan, you might remember a time when the Canadian province of Quebec had two hockey teams – the Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordiques. Could the Battle of Quebec be returning to the NHL? I hope so!
As a native Montrealer, I was saddened when the Nordiques were sold in 1995 and became the Colorado Avalanche but that’s the nature of the game.
