O’Brien Suspended For Hitting Avery

O’Brien Suspended For Hitting Avery

Shane O’Brien strikes again.  He’s hot-tempered and I think he gets into more penalty trouble than he should and this is no exception.  The NHL has suspended the Vancouver Canucks defenceman after his stick made contact with New York Rangers player, Sean Avery, while they were both seated on the bench.
A melee had broken out between the teams and it was just one of many scrums that happened as a result but you, obviously, cannot hit someone while you’re on the bench.   O’Brien will miss Thursday’s game at Minnesota but will be eligible to return on Friday at Dallas.
Here’s a …read more

Avery Insulted Boudreau’s Weight

Avery Insulted Boudreau’s Weight

Just once, I’d like to read a story about Sean Avery being a decent human being and acting in a way that shows he appreciates the privilege of being a professional hockey player.  So far, it’s just been more and more affirmation of what a douche he is.

Washington Capitals head coach, Bruce Boudreau, has revealed in a new book called Gabby: Confessions of a Hockey Lifer, that Avery made some derogatory comments about his weight during the opening round of last season’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"He told me I was the biggest, fattest bleeping pig he had ever seen," …read more

Avery Punches Goalie, Shouldn’t Be in NHL

Avery Punches Goalie, Shouldn’t Be in NHL

Sean Avery has been called many things but the only types of calls he heard last night were for penalties.  I know some people see him as an agitator who is just good at being a pest but I personally feel that he shouldn’t have the privilege of wearing an NHL jersey.  I certainly don’t think he deserves to be in the playoffs after missing so much of the season for being abusive.  The Dallas Stars dumped him for a reason and I’m so confused by the fact that the New York Rangers chose to pick him up.  Maybe after …read more

Avery “Accidentally” Hits Thomas

Avery “Accidentally” Hits Thomas

We all knew it couldn’t last forever.  Supposedly “reformed” NHL bad boy, Sean Avery, claims that his hit to the back of goaltender Tim Thomas’ head was merely an accident.  Uh… he’s a really terrible actor because he might as well have been whistling and looking around when he did it.
Anyway, Thomas wasn’t going to take that crap and he retaliated by giving Avery a nice shove to the back of the head.  What a mess. I really think that it’s a mistake to have him back in the lineup. It’s a privilege that people dream about growing …read more

New York Rangers Pick Sean Avery Off Waivers

New York Rangers Pick Sean Avery Off Waivers

Sean Avery is not only back in the NHL, he’s also back with his old team.  The reports are saying that the New York Rangers have officially invited Avery to rejoin their team and will split of the cost of his four-year, $15.5 million contract with the Dallas Stars.
I really can’t believe it.  I know that people deserve a second chance but I’ve never been a fan of his and I doubt I ever will.  Along with the string of other offensive things he’s done, Avery was initially suspended indefinitely for making a derogatory comment about the girlfriend …read more

Sean Avery Preparing For a Comeback?

Sean Avery Preparing For a Comeback?

Sean Avery might be preparing to try to come back into the NHL.  Apparently, he might get cleared from the Behavioral Modification program he was sent to by the NHL and NHLPA after a string of bad behavior finally caught up with him following a press conference during which he called Dion Phaneuf’s (Calgary Flames) girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert, “sloppy seconds.”  Avery and Cuthbert had dated in the past and many people felt that he had finally, officially crossed the line.
He’s expected to start skating early next week but it will be interesting to see if any teams are …read more

Dallas Stars Send Sean Avery Packing!

Dallas Stars Send Sean Avery Packing!

The Dallas Stars have made a really wise decision – they’ve chosen to free themselves of Sean Avery.  While reps for both the Stars and Avery say that the team continues to be supportive during “this critical time” for the player, they’ve elected to not put him back in the lineup after his six-game suspension is over.
I wasn’t surprised to hear co-GM, Brett Hull, weighing in on this.  He’s been vocal about Avery in the past.  Today, Hull said: “Sean needs to focus on his own well-being while the Stars hockey team must focus on playing hockey and competing …read more

Avery Banned for 6 Games, Agrees to Anger Management

Sean Avery has been handed a 6-game suspension (without pay) for making defamatory remarks about Calgary Flames defenseman, Dion Phaneuf, and his girlfriend, Elisha Cuthbert.  The suspension is retroactive so there are just 4 games left in his punishment.
Dallas Stars GM, Brett Hull, had mentioned that maybe Avery could use “medical help” so I wonder if he had anything to do with the request that Avery undergo a professional anger-management evaluation.  If necessary, he may have to begin attending structured counseling sessions to address, what the league feels, is “unacceptable and antisocial” behavior.  Here’s what NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman, had …read more

Sean Avery Done in NHL? Brett Hull Thinks He Needs "Medical Help"

Wow.  This situation gets worse by the minute.  People are pissed and I know some people think he shouldn’t have been suspended for his actions but I’m sorry – I hope Sean Avery is done.
I’m reading articles/blog posts where people say it’s unreasonable for Avery to have been suspended indefinitely for referring to Calgary Flames defenseman, Dion Phaneuf’s girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert as “sloppy seconds.”  I’m sorry but it’s about more than that.
He’s gotten away with so much crap over the years and this is my personal list of things that you shouldn’t do if you want …read more

Sean Avery Suspended Indefinitely, Calls Dion Phaneuf’s Girlfriend "Sloppy Seconds"

Sean Avery Suspended Indefinitely, Calls Dion Phaneuf’s Girlfriend "Sloppy Seconds"

WOW.  My son and I have been looking forward to the Calgary Flames versus Dallas Stars game tonight, mostly because we really like Stars goalie, Marty Turco despite the fact that the team is off to a really horrible start.
Of course, a lot of people were wondering how the league’s biggest jerk, Sean Avery (Dallas) was going to try to harrass Dion Phaneuf (Calgary) since Neufy is dating the jackass’ former girlfriend, Elisha Cuthbert.  We didn’t even have to wait for the game to start since Avery called all the press to gather round (even requesting TSN specifically) so …read more
